American ChatGPT is a ‘moon landing’ moment for AI, Chinese experts say, as tech firms try to dampen enthusiasm

People forget that ChatGPT is in beta, trained on a limited set of data (I think some 40 TB or so), there woll be factual errors until they let it loose on all the internet.
And don't forget, as a language AI, all they do is put word around and put out an "intelligence" response, they aren't program to predict or analyse data, it can't tell you who will win a basketball ball between Sac King and Indiana Pacer. Believe me, I tried. LOL

You know but I believe that once they finalize the 'response' layer, they will start adding layers to enable predictability and stuff- you know give odds on who might win game and so on.

Chatgpt has many other simple mistakes. I tried using it for my cyber security course as help but it didn’t know simple questions which should have been very simple for it. But Chatgbt is just the tip of the iceberg for Ai.

Yeah and Chatgbt has limited access to data. It’s not like google which has access to 100s of time more data to train its models to achieve higher accuracy.

Because of Indians only, otherwise USA can not even figure out 2+2
And Iranians. Iranians in the west especially in Canada are everywhere in tech. At my uni almost all tech courses have Iranian professors.

It can aid in predicting. It can create models from data for humans to use. AI can analyze data tho. Isn’t that the whole point of AI? The Deep learning component of AI is so it can analyze data.

Don't know if this will ever happened, I mean to handicap sport like that, that take some real processing power.

But then I don't know much about AI, I don't know if they would be able to do that, but yes, the next step after they get into the response phase is going to be data analysis

Don't think you should depends on this for any course, and I think it was mentioned in the user interface and warning people not to depends on this for assignment.

Again, I think this AI is basically a "smart" response type, I mean it make meaningful conversation but I will not depends on it for problem solving

Yeah, but I don't think this is what this does....

I wonder how many IA engineers in OPenAI are native Americans.

Native American as in this??

You know what I mean. Native Americans refer to those who were born in America and educated by America in element school, middle school and high school. If most AI engineers of OpenAI are immigrants. US only played a money supplier role. I don't think it is worth boasting.

He is the head of OpenAI

You tell me

By the way, the entire Open AI team is on Linkin, you can look it up

Also, all AMERICAN are immigrant except Native American. So I really don't see your point.

I can't open the link because I don't have Linkedin account. But I kinda have a bad feeling that immigrants played a big role in this.

Again, what's immigrant have to do with this??

I mean this is an American technology, even if these people are migrant from China, that does not make OpenAI and ChatGPT "Chinese"

On the other hand I would say around 10% of 180 or so OpenAI employee have foreign name. By the way, most of the team on OpenAI are "Canadian" because the 3 dude that form the AlexNET team who based the ChatGPT program from are from university of Toronto. Including the lead scientist, Ilya Sutskever

It's going to say that for every spacecraft...even ones that haven't even had successful manned launches yet.

To be honest, I dont understand why you guys are arguing about. Everyone knows that the US leads the world in technology/innovation . Its normal that american tech companies dominate the world in many fields . In fact even the Chinese(forget about what some ultra nationalists here might try to deny it) know they are still behind by a margin, but they are moving forward/trying to close the gap. So that's an achievement as well. The US still has many advantages as the incumbent leader, so obviously it will take a while for China to match that..
The thing is US tech companies think and act globally, while Chinese company often think locally only or foremost. Its abit like a regional power mindset and world power mindset(but things are changing for China slowly in that aspect). So very few Chinese tech companies/brands have been able to dominate globally . Its an exception for China rather than a norm , but its a norm rather than an exception for the US. It will take quite sometime for China to get to that level.

Number of employees is not so important. Only the leader engineers matter. In most cases only 1-2 persons are the spirit of the whole company. I wonder how many immigrants in the core development team.

Well, it doesnt matter whether its originated from immigrants or not. What latters is that its american technology made by american citizens, whether they are originally immigrants or from immigrants parents doesnt matter at all. You think anybody cares the origin country of the american citizens who have contributed to America's technological prowess and dominance ? Lol the fact is, its american technology full stop, and American government has dominion and control over it.
If your government/country cant attract the brightest around the world to contribute to China's technological landscape and dominance then you can only blame your system or unwillingness to do so.

Didn't I said that already??

ChatGPT is based on AlexNET, and ALL OF THEM are from Canada.

And again, what's with people coming from different background have to do with the company achievement?? Just because someone is born in another country does not mean their achievement goes to that country, it will stay in the US, talent is one of the parameters for achievement, but NOT ALL OF THEM. You also need to have resource and know how. I mean, sure, if majority of US Software Engineer are Indian and Chinese born, then why both India and China haven't get that level of achieve on AI field?? I mean, where is Indian version of ChatGPT? Where is Chinese version of ChatGPT?

Just because you think immigration is bad, and xenophobic is good does not mean it is.
