Iranian UAVs | News and Discussions

Yesterday, the Shahed-136 Geran-2 kamikaze UAV visited the Ukrainian army ammunition depot somewhere at the front, which can be understood from the characteristic boxes in the background. The Ukrainian military again claims that they managed to shoot down the drone, but judging by the fact that only the MD550 engine remained, the drone worked properly.

By the way, the Ukrainian air defense is still losing dry to new drones: for the entire time of using these toys, not a single Shahed has been shot down. The Ukrainian military also claims that the UAVs operate in pairs.
if they showed that as proof , then they are rehashing materials as they already shown that before .

Salam. This appears to be a 🇨🇳 version of the 🇺🇸 switchblade series called feihong-901 with reportedly 10 times larger payload than it's western counterpart, deployable from a truck mounted launcher and helicopters.

What about Iran develops one of it's own that an infantryman can launch from a portable tube pack but can also be deployed from vehicle launchers and helicopters?

iran theory in this is make it cheap , that is not cheap and is complex as it use folding , wings. we have a uav that can be released in number of 10 , but it is not truck launched , its designed to be released from helicopters and other larger drones .
also like switchblade it has range of less than 20m so it put operator in danger of enemy fire

Out of curiosity, what kind of processors are used on these UAVs? I mean what nanometre process and what functions does the AI perform?

Not much info was released, sorry bro.
you don't need too much power for that ,as the processor don't need to do all other works of a processor in your pc or phone.
my guess is that a specialized chip on 30+ nm process

I really hoped those f-7 get the same treatment ,

That was a AI tech demo, most likely some chips you can buy off from taobao.

I don't now about what chip you can buy there . but if my guess is correct there be lots of chip that at first glance may look weak and useless from consumer point of view because they can't be used in their phones but when an engineer look at them he/she see a treasure that while cheap has a lot of capability if used with correct programing for a special task

indeed

Thanks for the insight. You think processors like that can be manufactured in-house? I'd really like to see Iran work itself up to the 16nm process.

We saw something that hinted that iran was working on this very same sort of thing. This was back at the beginning of 2021 during a big exhibition.Interestingly it wasnt mentioned it was just there in the background of the pictures.

More than a passing resemblance........?

What does isnotreal call it's version of the switchblade?

once Sa'Iran had plans to do so , sadly all were abandoned due to some people thinking money is god and didn't understood what is priority and what is not.
I don't knew if we have any place that can do that it industrial stage . ,maybe at labratoary stage . several month ago when the head of army visiting a facility in part of its visit , they showed part of the room for a short time and there were talk about research on chips . nothing more i could get from it, and they passed very fast and there was no more mention of it

I remember that 32 bit Parsé semiconductor technology from 2006...what a lost opportunity and such a huge gap between us and the current trends these days.

Hate this kind of moft-khori with a passion.

that was a waste on another front , that parse chip and its Tachara architecture , was a great opportunity . if they were supported by government today on chip design capability we were on par with china . the designers migrated to America . but that chip was not supposed to be built in iran . those sample was ordered to TSMC and were built by TSMC , that's the opportunity lost at the time of Ahmadinejad

Sa'Iran was planning to produce Integrated Circuits and small chips and they wanted to do that even before that if i'm not wrong that was another opportunity lost at the time of Rafsanjanni

The trend is to do the design of a chip in-house and send it to a FAB line outside for production...China can be a good source of FAB for Iranian designs...bette still if they buy a FAB from China (may be they have but it will not be disclosed...interestingly Iran makes some Fab equipment !!..not sure who the customer is:undecided:!)

well , the trend is but honestly it would have been nice if they sent the design to fabs 400-500 km away from the design bureau
about fab devices you can wonder , nobody talk about them , but a taught here . don't some of those devices have use in nanotechnology field?

I do not know about nano-tech usage because I am not familiar with nano-tech . But looking at Engine Control Unit (ECU) that Iran makes in thousands for Auto industry..there must be design and some kind of FAB somewhere in Iran:undecided:

we produce boards, we even assemble dram chips into ram module and SSD storage , but i don't knew about chip on them
