TLP worker pulling down Ranjit Singh's statue at the Lahore Fort

PPP and PMLN, along with other political parties, have done the amount of damage which TLP will never be able to reach.

But looks like TLP is the terrorist....goes to show the IQ level of most people on here acting like TLP just declared Jihad against Pakistan and has caused a loss of billions of dollars along with with untold other misfortunes.

He's a tiny speck of Punjabi history. And history doesn't remember him kindly. You need to learn history before coming onto PDF lecturing us about history.

Ranjit singh died miserably. he spent his last days submerged in alcohol. his empire died with him. soon after his death british conquered his sikh empire with ease. his son/grandsons were taken hostage by the british and were sent to england where they converted to christianity. Four of his Hindu wives, and seven Hindu concubines with royal titles committed sati. thats the legacy of ranjit singh

Not to mention the oppression Muslim of Pakistan and Kashmir lived in under his rule and the rules of his successors. Ever since Ranjit Singh, Sikhs have never done anything good towards Muslims. Latest example is the 1947 massacres perpetrated by Sikhs and Hindus.

Yet some people forget our history and try to make friends out of mortal enemies. We never see India making any statues of past Muslim rulers who ruled India for a time longer than any Hindu or Sikh ruler has ruled India.

He was a horrid c*nt but was better to Muslims in and around what is now central Punjab.
We destroyed a Sikh army on the mountains of Azad Kashmir in 1810 (date is remembered), under Raja Sultan Khan, part of the great native dynasty of Chib Rajputs.

After death of his father Raja Suleman Khan in 1772, Raja Sultan Khan became the ruler and expanded his rule to Barnala, Kharian, Gujrat, Noshera, Mirpur and Kotli. After death of Maharaja Ranjit Dev of Jammu, he declared his independence.7 As a result of some differences with his wife who interfered in affairs of the government, Raja Sultan imprisoned his Minister Sojan Singh; who later on escaped to Lahore and encouraged Maharaja Ranjit Singh to attack Bhimber. Raja Sultan Khan defeated the Sikh army, but Ranjit Singh sent a large force and arrested Sultan Khan and imprisoned him in Lahore for seven years

Thereafter Ranjit Singh through the entire resources of his empire at us, which then led to the battles in 1812-1819 and defeat.

in 1810, a force was sent against Raja Sultan Khan of Bhimber and was met with fierce resistance. However, in 1812 another Sikh army under prince Kharak Singh defeated Sultan Khan, and the Bhimber state was annexed as Jagir of Kharak Singh. Around the same time, Ranjit Singh acquired Gujrat and invaded Khari Khariyali, then ruled by Raja Umar Khan. Raja Umar Khan made peace with Ranjit Singh; but before a settlement could be made, he died, and the state and Mirpur became part of Ranjit Singh's territories.

This then led to the wars with the Durrani empire in which many men from AJK went to fight against the Sikh empire.

After the conquest of the valley of Kashmir his governors banned the azan, shut down most mosques, banned the slaughter of cows ( this was throughout his empire). So much for the religious tolerance if you lived in these regions.
He's hated by us and the Pashtuns, if anyone else wants this hero they can have him.......

Ranjit Singh was ruling a land with Sikh population of just over 6%. There were countless Muslim and Hindu leaders in his council and could not have maintained his supremacy if he did not allow freedom to practice other religion throughout his kingdom. He was surrounded by Muslim empires from all sides and could not have lasted for long without being fair and just. These are some of the Generals of Ranjit Singh

You need to read what Waz wrote above. Post #94.

Ranjit Singh was a mass murderer and a tyrant among many other things. You cannot change historical facts by mentioning his statesmanship.

This video does not seem to criticize Ranjit Singh.

core of Punjabi nationalists , and with any nationalist group, the kind of people where Lahore might as well be the greatest city to have been formed in the history of the world, putting Atlantis to shame ( I like Lahore too but some go OTT)

Ethnicity (culture, heroes) > over anything
like I said central Punjabis kinda romanticize him and this trend has only grown in recent years (Punjabi nationalism) ...

look up this guys last name, he is a central punjabi himself I think

If he is respected by this area of Punjab, which means he was not an indiscriminate killer, right?
I am assuming any killing he might have ordered was part of his empire expansion. Not very different from what rulers did at that time.
Had he been a Muslim instead of Sikh, Pakistan would have made missiles in his name.

Trolling with Gazni or Ranjit missile?...

Also majority of Pakistan dislike him because he butchered many people of modern Pakistani, turned mosques into horse stables

so a controversial figure outside of his core area, not a unifying figure

Hmm.. Ghazni destroyed several temples and massacred numerous armies in his campaigns in India. But he is celebrated in Pak.
Is it because he was a Muslim and his victims were mainly Hindu?

No troll.. Genuine question.
Ranjit Singh is hated because he converted a mosque to stable and killed people.
Ghazni is celebrated despite destroying many temples and killing many people.
Is religion the only factor in this dichotomy?

I have no love for ranjit singh but these morons of TLP are no less of a scourge than TTP. If you go to their madaris they are a hub of londay bazi. My cousin who got education in TLP affiliated madrisa told me horror stories about how they used to rape little kids by taking turn and then issued death threats to keep their families quiet. These Khawarijis need to be put in place before they destroy entire fabric of our society. Our authorities should have gotten the hint when their Twitter and Facebook trends were being launched from india and afghanistan.

Pakistan needs to have chinese style education camps to develop some senses in these jahil mullis. They dont deserve to represent islam cuz of their mentality.

Forget missile.. I am asking what is the opinion of regular Pakistanis.. Do they like Ghazni and hate Ranjit.. If yes, is religion the factor of this weird differentiation?

Having Muslim Jurnails doesn't mean Ranjit Singh didn't commit atrocities against Muslims in general and Punjabi Muslims in particular. British Indian empire controlled India with an even smaller portion of the population, yet we don't and ought not to celebrate their destructive impact on the subcontinent just like we shouldn't with Ranjit Singh's subjugation of Punjabi Muslims. This is as senseless as German Jews celebrating Hitler, just because he was a fellow German and Hitler did have his useful jewish collaborators as well just like Ranjit's Muslim Jurnails.

If Pakistan needs to move forward it needs to cast away this racial superiority nonsense and especially around a race/ethnicity which is a an artificial construct, Punjabis don't even have a word of their own native tongue to describe themselves and have to use farsi for that purpose. Secondly, their race isn't all that distinct an ethnicity to begin with, especially on the Pakistan side of the Punjab, where intermarriages and migrations have left the Punjabi genetic pool not all that pure.

People in Central Punjab who are not islamist don't hate Ranjit, many even like him

Rest of the country hate him because of his butchery

Liberals are somewhat nuetral or dislike Ghazni but centrists and conservatives use him to troll India, and like him
