The first one is a banner / ensign and the second is the flag, although I have also seen it in a more yellow colour.

I do not know. On the picture below you can see them side by side.
I think that the orange one (especiallly when it is triangular shaped) is the Nishan Sahib, the Sikh flag, while the yellow one is the real Khalistan flag.
They probably use them interchangeably.

so when Khalistan becomes independent it will not be just Punjab now will it then
