Turkish Cypriot describes the slaughter of unarmed Greek Cypriots
23.05.2018 16:23 CyprusSigmaLive
With full cynicity he describes the massacres of unarmed and unarmed people in 1974 by himself, until then a member of the TMT, a Turkish Cypriot 84 years old.
In an interview with a Turkish television network, the elderly man today reported his memories, giving creepy details of how he acted in 1974.
The story is published in the column of the Turkish Cypriot journalist Cener Leveden, in the newspaper "Afrika", and relayed in Greek the site tourkikanea.gr.
According to the website, in 1974, the 84-year-old was an officer in the Messaria region and, as he boasted, he "arranged" the captured "giaureans" (as reported to the Greeks) who brought them there.
The interviewer, surprised at the interviewe[e], asks: "When you killed unarmed, defenseless, innocent people, how did you do that by seeing them in the eyes?" But the 84-year-old did not show any repentance.
As he spoke about Greek Cypriots, "And they did a lot".
"Even if they were innocent, where would I find those who did it? Killing me was my art. When the army came to our village, I joined them as the nose of Karpasia. I was very happy. As I approached the nose, I saw that there were many Greek Cypriot prisoners sitting there. My intention was to clear them all. Some who understood this, informed their officer. The Turkish officer, Khaki Boratas, told me that if I was away from him, he would shoot me.
"I necessarily stayed next to him. I was whipping away, "he said in words, not of repentance, but of pride.
For his part, Senor Lewden notes in his column that this Turkish Cypriot "boasts of those who killed and burned for those who did not kill him, and indeed see who prevented him from killing prisoners in Karpasia. The Turkish officer! "
As Lewent points out, "Our Greek-Cypriot brother, Mesara, who reads this text, may wonder: Did my father kill him? If I were, I would be wondering. This man who says this, still lives in Famagusta. And I know he's not the only one, there are others. A citizen told us that in the village of Sardarli (Chatzó) a similar one also boasted. He was blamed for melting the head of a Greek Cypriot with stone. "
However, according to the website, the 84-year-old claims that similar incidents have also occurred in the Greek Cypriot community, with some of them also boasting the number of Turks they have killed.
"They still live. They are known, but nobody touches them and is not accountable. And they are not accountable to us. All we do is supposed to cry because there is no solution and peace, "Lewen says.
