For Bangladeshi Brothers - With Love

You should have atleast the balls to name people.

As i said. Its your thing. Play victim if not play moral highground.

Everythings just an argument. Never dialogue.

You are traitors even in religious terms so spare me your LOVE for pakistan.

You got two american flags but the hilsa rises above the pheonix.

Know the pecking order pops

I know the pecking order. I'm looking down at you.

No victim here buddy. I'm not complaining. Just making observations.

Step out of Pakistan. Maybe your narrow mind will expand.

Lol its in your genes? Aint it? You just have to do it? Like just cant let go?

Do what? Like most of your stupid posts your not making any sense.

Do what? Like most of your stupid posts your not making any sense.

Hate/dislike/dafuq towards the state of bangladesh or bangladeshis has nothing to do with racism.

Bangladesh does not equal the Bengali race. Get that through you

I frankly don't know what to say.

If this is what passes for entertainment in Pakistan presented by ARY digital and which mates superb bad taste with majority Pakistani intellectual values - then I only have my condolences for you. Blackface with shoe polish?? Your media clearly has no shame....

If this meets with your taste - please do the rest of us a favor and stay IN Pakistan - you and your medieval values will never fit in with the rest of the world. :disagree:

And no Bangladeshi I know looks like the caricature put forward in that video.

@Avicenna, @Homo Sapiens, @Centaur .....

@Oscar bhai - I am curious what people from areas like Sindh would think of this video who had skin tone darker than any Bengali.....I've known a few Sindhis who look like the person in the video actually. This is not funny at all - it's rather sad.
@Bilal9 @Avicenna
I don't think u r familiar with Moeen Akhtar's work. He was a very talented actor/comedian who could play a ton of different characters very well. The creator of this show Anwar Maqsood is also an intellectually gifted person. The meaning here isn't to make fun of Bangladeshis or any other ethnic group or race. If u watch other episodes u would realize that he has also dressed(and changed his look) as a ton of other ethnic groups/races like Punjabis/Pathans/even White and African/etc. He doesn't do it to mock them instead they both(Moeen Akhtar and Anwar Maqsood) highlight some deeper issues in the society through comedy/satire.

U r trying to relate it to the racism like that existed in hollywood at a certain time, where instead of casting Black ppl they would have white actors have a black face. This is not the case here...it's not a refusal to cast a Bangladeshi or whatever other ethnic group that Moeen Akhtar is portraying nor is it to mock their skin color. It's just that no one else can pull off the character as he can...nor can they engage in the comedic/satirical conversation(with a deeper lesson behind it) with Anwar Maqsood like he can.

As for the dark skin tone thing u mentioned about Sindhis...so what if they r dark skinned. Pakistanis have a range of different skin colors from light to dark...the theme/message of this show isn't to promote or degrade a certain skin color. Watch other episodes(if u understand Urdu) before passing on ur judgement.

I don't care about the clip man. I understand what you are saying.

I'd still say putting on shoe polish on your face is in pretty bad taste no matter how one cuts it. This type of humor is medieval and nothing to be proud of.

I'd like to know who in Bangladesh would stoop this low about depicting common Pakistanis in the media in THIS bad a light. Maybe soldiers - but ALL Pakistanis?? Thankfully there aren't anyone....I am glad our decency is at a whole other level above this.

A true Chhee-chhee moment......

No matter how you spin this - it still looks bad. Blackface was done in Hollywood in 1920's, and this is being done in Pakistan about a hundred years later. So should I say Pakistan is about a hundred years behind the West in social development and decency of media? Would that be accurate then?

^^^ That man reminds me of great legend Mohammad Rafique. BD cricket was truly in shamble that time

Clearly fault of the makeup artist in giving shades. But the above one clearly resembles BD current heartthrob pace bowler casanova chocolate boy Rubel Hossain

These kids (almost all of them) came straight out of impoverished mofussil small-town lower middle-class background where opportunities are few and far between. They would end up a little darker. That doesn't equate with lack of talent. Still a human being deserving our respect for their achievements. And not deserving of being made fun of using blackface and shoe polish. Respect begets respect. A concept lost in some Pakistani circles I guess.

When a darker tone baby is born, do their parents love him any less?

I know the pecking order. I'm looking down at you.

@Avicenna bhai let it go. These people have a long way to go to get educated. Just because they pick up a few licks of English from movies they think they know everything.

LOL. I didn't care in the first place.

And to be honest, all South Asians are guilty of the dark skin hate. BENGALIS INCLUDED.

Whip out the biodatas and look at which women are desirable. Look at the descriptions of males and females
and see how light skinned individuals are viewed as opposed to dark skinned ones.

It's SUPER PREVALENT amongst Bengalis. So if fingers gotta be pointed point at ourselves first.

That being said, I love me some light skinned girls. :-)

Well let's just say I respectfully disagree. In my circle, that day has been far gone......education and exposure over several generations does wonders.....

If you are condoning deliberate wholesale racial stereotyping of entire countries then I have little to say. Same thing goes for gender stereotyping as well.

And to be honest, all South Asians are guilty of the dark skin hate. BENGALIS INCLUDED.

Some things are 'institutionalized racism' - some things are not.

If we condone this sort of thing - then we won't have anything to complain about, here in the states (about racial mistreatment), the way it exists and the way the breitbart people are trying to turn back the clock.

What you do and do not morally condone and vocalize does matter......

Just odd about certain Pakistanis behaving like this when in larger US cities (for that matter all overseas countries) they get treated the same like all South Asians. There is no 'color bar' shade difference between Pakistanis and Bangladeshis here in the US.

Hello everyone.. I have watched an old funny tv show and want to share with my Bangladeshi friends.. You have to know urdu to understand this..

Our legend Mr. Moin Akhtar (may Allah forgive him and award him Jannah) and Anwar Maqsood played roles in it.

Please don't take the program seriously as it was a comedy show.. and they did the similar programs for different Pakistani and Indian ethnicities..

Just watch, share and enjoy!

Lol I think you have missed the train pal . This argument isn't about his post . But about a video posted by another one . Post no #5 .
I believe you didn't read the whole argument before jumping to conclusion.

Did u see the episode? Do u understand Urdu to know what type of humor it was? If u can understand Urdu and watch the episode u will see that him having the black skin tone isn't made fun of nor discussed in any manner at all.

Here he is as another character "Footballer from Makran"(Makran is in Balochistan, Pakistan)
Notice the same dark skin? What r u gonna say now that he is making fun of Pakistanis as well, even though both members of the show are Pakistanis themselves?

Here he is playing a female character...
So using ur logic...bcuz he changed his look to play a woman must somehow demean women right?

He even played some white CIA agent character or something like that. I remember seeing the episode but can't find it right now to link here. In this episode he used make up to make his skin lighter(since he had a brown skin tone). Does that mean he was making fun of or demeaning white ppl? No that episode was mocking Pakistan's politicians and how they r sell outs and dance to the tune of America.

This is what this show is all about...they talk about or bring up certain issues in Pakistan in an indirect satirical/comedic manner. If the shows creator Anwar Maqsood or Moeen Akhtar were racists as u r thinking then surely it would've showed in their other works. Anwar Maqsood has written a plethora of other things and Moeen Akhtar has done many tv shows/stage dramas(theatre)/etc...yet all of their works lack any such racism.

I'd like to know who in Bangladesh would stoop this low about depicting common Pakistanis in the media in THIS bad a light. Maybe soldiers - but ALL Pakistanis?? Thankfully there aren't anyone....I am glad our decency is at a whole other level above this.

Sure u can feel superior about urself...go right ahead...but ur argument, on the basis of which u r looking down on this show/actor/Pakistanis and feeling superior about Bangladeshis, is flawed.

No matter how you spin this - it still looks bad. Blackface was done in Hollywood in 1920's, and this is being done in Pakistan about a hundred years later. So should I say Pakistan is about a hundred years behind the West in social development and decency of media? Would that be accurate then?
What exactly do u know about that black face thing done in Hollywood? Do u know why it was racist and different from this? It wasn't just about making the face black of some white actor who was to portray African Americans. They also made a mockery of African Americans...showing them as uncivilized or mannerless among other negative depictions of them. Other times it was to fit a certain narrative of racist white ppl of that day...like depicting them as singing/dancing around and being very happy while working in the fields...to convey the message of how they were happier/better off while they were slaving away at plantations. This along with many other reasons like refusing to cast them as actors(at that time) or depicting them wrongfully in Cartoons(with super big noses and what not) is what made all of this racist. So ur comparison of that with this is utterly wrong.

These kids (almost all of them) came straight out of impoverished mofussil small-town lower middle-class background where opportunities are few and far between. They would end up a little darker. Malnourishement doesn't make one darker. The lightness/darkness of the skin is genetic and is entirely due to the amount of melanin in ur skin.

...and again no one is hating on/making fun of these ppl. If they came out of poverty and rose above with their talent then that's great...more power to them. U r the only one here drawing comparisons where none exist and passing ur judgement.

@Avicenna bhai let it go. These people have a long way to go to get educated. Just because they pick up a few licks of English from movies they think they know everything.
U can continue to think what u like. This is as far as I will go explaining to u that it's not what u think. If u r still unconvinced then go right ahead and continue having ur opinion...even though it's highly uninformed since u haven't actually watched the show(this one and other episodes) and idk if u even understand Urdu(to understand what's being talked about).

I appreciate your writing a long detailed post trying to sway my opinion.

The fact remains that this type of caricature of dark-skinned people is unthinkable in the modern world. Educated people in most civilized countries will be shocked - as I was.

I guess Pakistani entertainment values are incompatible with those. Neither good nor bad, just incompatible. To each his/her own I guess.

Yea true. But your being such a snowflake. :-)

Thanks - I guess......
