What's new

Very happy for Raza Baqir that he has been removed, a professional like him has no place in Darnomics: Fawad Chaudhry

This stupid policy was the reason why our IT industry couldn't grow, this retarded policy lead to a significant decline in our exports while imports grew rapidly.
Mr. Dar should explain his side. Has he ever been asked to do so?

But the new guy (former dpy gov) is just a 'mini me' version of Baqir. Baqir had a Harvard PhD in econ. New guy has an Oxford PhD in econ. Both cut their teeth at the IMF.

So, what's the difference, really?

Also, beware the IMF types. Although... literally anything is better than Dar/Daku-nomics, obviously.

Exactly!

PTI's information strategy was also all over the place. Simple visuals / charts would have really helped. Randomly ranting against corruption, artificial valuations, etc., over and over doesn't help. Many educated people, let alone the masses, have trouble understanding how these accounting tricks (masquerading as fiscal and monetary policy) are pulled off. People just know: pehlay itna tha, ab itna hai.
Exactly. Visual charts really help to understand than mere words

He ran away...

How can we ask him when he is hiding in the UK? After that Hardtalk interview, he won't be facing media anytime soon.

not be shamed by the extreme inflation under PTI and the shrinking of GDP which is still nowhere the level of 2018!!!
PTI must hve been ruling half the world since 2018 including India. I take it you slept through the covid and it's effects on global economy? Inflation and economies shrinking has been seen across the globe.

In this interview, he questions the inputs to REER calculation formula. But does not explain his rationalization for optimal currency exchange. Seems like he has promised 160 PKR when if he is allowed to take the helm once more? 🤔

@Norwegian No government can realistically be gauged in a rule of 3 plus years particulary in a country like Pakistan. But here is fact. PPP/PML-N have ruled Pakistan on and off for the last 30 years at some level with some having roots in 1970s to 1980s.

This is a period long enough tp gauge the people at the helm. And it's easy. Pakistan 2022 is largely a product of this combo and Musharaf. And look at the mess it is in.

If we use 1990 as base year look where India is today. In fact the begger of South Asia - Bangladesh has even overtaken Pakistan. Whose fault is this? 1990 is 32 years ago. Is it the 3 years of PTI ?

Like fcuk. You don't need bar charts. This fact alone tells us who is at fault. The fcukers who have played a game of musical chairs with Pakistan for last 32 years are responsible. Yet dumb baskets here think this 32 year rejects will move Pakistan forward.

Hand on heart I have no idea if PTI could have changed the course of Pakistan. We would have found out in 7-10 years but one thing for sure these fcukers certainly have already 32 years history of failure. At least we deserved to give new entrant a try.

What would have been worse thing? That PTI also fcuk up like the dirty combo?

Exchange rate is not something you can "promise". That question in itself shows how little Ishaq Dar knows about macro economics

Good point. I think his informed opinion about the economy says that at its current state, PKR should be 160 per dollar. Hope that sounds better :D

I agree with you guys that floating the currency at market level is the right way.

Sour grapes, yeh baqar jaisay Nobel prize jeta hua ha, bohat professor hain market main, Chaudhry baitu ki batain karta ha.

Daronomics returns. He was supposed to be last hurdle in its path. Gone now.
