Uniform Civil Code can be the real unifying force in India. Critics must think again

What do you think of Muslim women getting half of her male siblings get in inheritance?
A viciously unfair deal.

And so?

Because it's a cover, with the real intention of targeting Indian Muslims faith, values, family and laws
If these egalitarian measures amount to targeting Muslim faith, values, family and laws, perhaps those features deserve close and probing examination and reform by Muslims in the first place, long before there is any effort to bring about a homogenisation of all the applicable laws.

Arre bhai..
how equality gonna destroy Muslim faith, values, family and law?
👍

Like I said if fair minded people tried to enact a law like UCC it may have some merit, however in a biased communal state like india that is not possible
In effect, you are not against a Uniform Civil Code, but not in a state like India.

Would you have been for such a code before 2014, before the gremlins and trolls came to rule India?

Possibly

In essence a law like UCC requires a inclusive approach where the community can air, debate, discuss different view points. Religious laws/values themselves are often not necessary against something like alimony for example

The problem is India in 2024 is a toxic communal disaster zone,, don't take my word for it,, take a trip through Indian social media
Look at the response from different communities to the rape of that 8 year old kashmiri child

Current Indian politics especially from the BJP is built upon communal tension and it's getting worse and worse since 2014,,

This government,, with those politicians, under this communal tension is not the place for a reasonable debate on UCC

Indian Muslims are beginning to find their voice under the constant pressure and a UCC pushed by a BJP they don't trust won't resolve or fix anything but will be seen as a attack

If a member of the minority murders a Hindu, no one speaks out
When rapist sevaks were killed in Godhra, Hindus went on a mass murder and raping spree. Several thousand Muslims were killed and many more forced into destitution. This is what this Tanatani cockroach considers as "no one speaking out".
I’ve been listening to this ‘we are on the way to genocide and Hindu Rashtra’ from 2014. May be you guys should stop it now and talk about it only when this happens. I hope that’s okay with you.
Tell Bajrangi chimps to stop talking about it and arming themselves in preparation for it and we'll stop talking about it.

Oh wait, Lodi-Ji said if you speak against Bajrangis, you're speaking against supreme monkey lord Hanuman himself!

We are talking about equality here. If you are saying Muslims have problems with equality(!), then I don’t know what to say.

What he is saying is he doesn't trust Chindoos to actually enforce equality. Which is a fair concern, since as we all know, Hindus have been claiming they are a secular state for the last 80 years while in parallel, they have cow reverence enshrined in their constitution and use this clause to justify vigilante mob lynchings against Muslims and Dalits. If Chindoos think state-mandated cow reverence is secularism, Hanuman save Indian Muslims from the Hindu interpretation of equality.

This is a pessimistic but correct assessment. It can be neutralised, but this is the situation today.

Please DO NOT add to the noise. The sevaks at Godhra were nowhere in no way rapist.

Adding that kind of incorrect information totally distorts the essence of your point of view, enfuriates those who might have been withdrawn from the discussion and merely observing (reading) it, and offers a weapon to the radicals.

By that very silly distortion, you have devalued all that you wrote after that clause.

You don’t qualify to talk about equality, you know. Please quote me when Pakistan has removed the LAW which stops non Muslims to become PM President or Army Chief.

You don't qualify either, given your fanatical tribal loyalty to a "way of life" predicated on the subjugation of lower-castes. Come back to me when you renounce Tanatani Drum and then you can have plenty of fun lecturing Muslims about the equality you're planning to bring.

Please DO NOT add to the noise. The sevaks at Godhra were nowhere in no way rapist.
I've read that they were caught trying to abduct a Muslim girl (on top of attacking Muslim tea vendors).

I'm not trying to be purposely abrasive, but Indians should really stop coming here and trying to bait sympathy for vile people in their communities while consistently throwing ordinary Indian Muslims under the bus. As long as they continue to do this, I'll remind Pakistanis who exactly they are trying to defend. At best, the sevaks were just thugs. At worst, they are rapists who were stopped from committing the act.

Sadly, pure urban legend.

Have you read a single word from me disputing facts? One word?

I am a little annoyed at being clubbed with Sanghi lowlives out to cause trouble. That was less than polite. However, let us move on. If ever I catch you bending, you are road-kill. :enjoy:

At best, the sevaks were just thugs.
They are more accurately described as enthused and ignorant devotees who were at the wrong place at the wrong time. One has to feel sorry for them, for the dreadful deaths they suffered, with little or no fault.

It was that element of pathos that added to mixed feelings among a great many Indians at the time. Pakistani commentators would get a better picture if they kept this in mind while examining that situation.

Me saying that the spirit of Islam is Socialism has more legitimacy than you saying that this hijaab business is part of the Islamic faith. :)
Hijab is part of the Islamic faith. But more importantly, if anyone says it is part of their personal faith, who are others to say no it isn't.

Socialism is purely political. Islamic spirit endorses aspects of socialism, capitalism, and liberalism. It's not a political theory though.

I wasn't grouping you in with them. I was trying to explain why I sometimes use hyperbolic language. It was never directed at you.

It's not my Pakistani-ness getting in the way of empathizing with them here, it's my belief that they had a lot more agency and responsibility than you let on.
