The 12-Year-Old Who Stopped Our Car And Threw Stones At Us In Kashmir

Are you willing to give Kashmiris what they want?
If yes then problem solved if not then you will have to kill more kids again future. Simple.
and where will this stop ? tomorrow Hindus will demand that muslims should be thrown out of india. will u accept it?

I am just stating how it is, there is no ideal solution for this, may be kashmiris want Kashmir to be next syria then they might rethink what they want.

whats happening in Kashmir valley is brute majoritarianism combined with ISIS type Islam.
Someone should remind them that ISIS is paying a price they will have too in future i doubt though Kashmiris have stomach for that.

Can we really put all the blame on them? Let's be fair here:
Most of these young children would most likely be directly affected by Indian states policies in Kashmir, which have resulted in deaths of many Kashmir's. I don't get how Indian general public expects them to remain calm and not stand against brutalities and injustice? How does one not expect a father or a brother of a 10 year old who has been killed by a pellet gun not to take up arms. Indian state policies are only massacring another generation of Kashmiris...
Biggest example:

By force there isn't. India should look to deliver the promises it has made to Kashmiris.

Ok .Suppose if you are right in there .What motivates them to hate Hindus,?What motivates them to follow hardcore Wahhabism?
That is where you have problems and solutions .
Now he is a kid and when he is an adult he would began to hunt down kafirs.

We are looking at the problem which is obvious not which is at the root of this protest , never in the history of independent India have we seen such a long protest .

Who is going to come up with solutions? Not our GOVT !!!! they are busy in rhetoric against Pakistan . We dont seem to have any policy in place for Kashmir , or for that matter even Pakistan .

Wahhabism is almost affected the Valley .
Our criminal negligence attitude during 90's spread this virus from Afghanistan to Valley .There is no cure for this .
Situations wont change even if another Govt comes to power.

hating Hindoos, hunting down kafir is fine .. fun will start when he start finding Wajeeb-ul-Qatal heretics among fellow kashmiri muslims !!

Do you know in 2010 they even burnt railways stations? this is a lot milder when it comes to protests , but that was solved earlier due to the willingness of the govt to reach out.

A few months ago during those great floods this people didnt have any problem in accepting the helping hand of security forces .Now they are aggressively attacking the same forces that helped them .
You cant change the mindset of such people.

Although OT@stonepelters, The entire Indian outlook is there are no tactical options to look at and everything needs to be strategic in nature. We have neither built tactical capabilities nor we are looking to do so. There has to be a price to pay for any asymmetric action, whether tactical or social interference.

Ajit Doval talked about opening an economic front.
We must realize that like election rallies, people are paid to do some jobs.
Let me put it in other words, would a school/college going young boy or a Shikara owner or a restaurant cook (you can think of any common face) in valley resort to stone pelting. Chances are negligible.
Unfortunately, in past so many decades, we have only poured money in valley without realizing what effect it is having.
As Doval told, the chaos creating mob needs to be analyzed. Why do they need to resort to all this?
chances are they have nothing else to do and their paymasters are only too happy to put them in front.
This has many consequences. First being local population, it gives the propaganda, a sort of legitimacy atleast for world watching them on TV. Second, over a period of time, these mad yahooism will become a sort of option for similar such people. Third, This is really a low risk, high return strategy. There are no arms involved and mob as always remains faceless. So mercenaries can be used for high value targets, while keeping security forces engaged.

Why not target this angle economically and constructively?
let us outspend those who put a few rupees in hands of this misguided youth, for flexing their arms. This isn't a simple policy and will take time to show results, but once it starts working, it will be easier for security forces to focus and target actual problem.

I'm sure in longer run, this will bear more results than the current confused policy in the valley.

Our vehicle screeched to a halt. We were returning from Uri where 18 soldiers were killed in a terror attack a day before. Security forces deployed along the highway were pulling back for the day.

From the front seat of the car, I could only see the top of a head. A boy, no older than 12, had forced our vehicle to stop. With him was a group of another dozen, all in the same age group - 12 to 14 years old.

These are the "stone-pelters" of Kashmir, mostly minors, groups of young boys who take over the streets and highways as the security forces withdraw each day.

Our driver Ashiq, in his mid-fifties, apologised profusely to the boys for having broken an unofficial lock-down imposed by separatists in Kashmir. They were not listening and threw stones at our vehicle.

Sheikh Momin, our camera person, jumped out to reason with the group. Momin is local boy who has studied in Srinagar and now works with NDTV in New Delhi.

As he tried to talk to the boys, they zeroed in on a band he was wearing. "Why the band on your hand, it is un-Islamic?" a boy, about 12, said.
Momin, in his mid-20s and who wears faded jeans, loves apps on his phone and listens to pop music, was stumped. As he searched for an answer, the young boys said, "You are a Hindu."

And then, pointing to the camera slung across Momin's shoulder, another accusation - "Indian media."

A few adults watched from a distance as the boys conducted their inquisition. No one made an attempt to stop them.

Sensing trouble, Ashiq bowed and touched the feet of the 12-year-old to ask for forgiveness for having violated the lock-down orders issued by the Hurriyat and being enforced by its band of child soldiers.

He then had to listen to a long sermon and a heap of abuses from the boy, younger than his grandson. He did so quietly and was finally allowed to go after he promised never to violate the lock-down again.

Along the highway, an elderly man who keeps his small shop open on the sly, said "I don't believe Burhan Wani's killing triggered this, something doesn't match."

At night, slogans of "Azaadi" or freedom blare out from a mosque in the heart of capital Srinagar, where we are staying.

Over the last few months, it is groups of boys like the ones we met who have been holding the streets of Kashmir to ransom. Since July 8, when Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani was killed by security forces, the Valley has been on the boil. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has visited the Valley several times, even leading an all-party delegation. Mobile and internet services have been snapped many times and restored as many times.

New Delhi has pointed at Pakistan and there is strong proof. The National Investigative Agency or NIA is probing slush funds landing in the Valley and being used to prop up the protesters. But there are no clear answers to who and how these young boys are being organized and motivated.

whatever floats ur boat pole vaulter !

Target the heads, target those who are promoting separatism and wahabism among the gullible masses in Kashmir, and make them 'vanish' quickly.

In fact, I would further suggest that take a leaf out of the Russian or Chinese books and come down heavily upon their families also, raise the cost of their actions beyond themselves.
