Taliban announce interim government; Mohammad Hasan Akhund to be PM, Baradar deputy PM

Why hasn't Pakistanis voted for a religion party to power? If you think that some Mujadeen can take country by force using suicide jackets then InshAllah it will never happen
if our wardi keeps protecting dakus you never know!

so what do they mean by the "acting" or "interim" government? will there be elections? if so, when?

Everyone is jumping about the govt being non inclusive. The taliban did say that the "interim" govt will be a fully taliban setup. They will then work for a constitution and a system and establish an inclusive govt.
I think they did the right thing, they fought for 20 years and won and at this point, they cannot trust outsiders. They need to establish a strong rule to face immediate challenges and once everything settles and cools down, they can include others.

But I am hoping that Biden would at least support other countries to work with the Taliban.

Why would Biden support the effort of other countries but not engage with the Taliban directly? And why would other countries care if the US work or not work with the Taliban?

If that's the case then don't expect recognition of the Afghan government until this happens.

Good points.
Yes, this is 'interim' and there is supposed to be a Loya Jirga with large participation from all major ethnic groups later to decide a new constitution for Afghanistan. Also, as long as Taliban create stability and security in the country, they would be able to withstand challenges to their rule as well as not have mass uprisings. Afghans want PEACE more than anything else right now. Even the external pressures / recognition can't make them budge on their own approach / timeline for transitioning their version of a new Afghanistan; and that's what they have done right now: Take it or leave it.
International recognition and of course financial help will be most welcomed by the Taliban but they are not dependent on such external help. Already, 'humanitarian aid' is being promised even by America.

Because it is politically costly for Biden to directly engage with the Taliban--especially now with the way the new govt is being setup by the Taliban. As for other countries, well, firstly Afghanistan doesn't offer much to anyone and so for other countries, such as, say, Brazil to do business with Taliban, there is no gain, and much pain (sanctions). BUT if America does decide to recognize and engage with the Taliban govt then just about all the world would follow that. Don't underestimate the diplomatic pull of America.
