India irked as China gets Pakistan's strategic Gwadar port

you do understand that we are talking about a port here, and next thing, the Russians ,US and china are trying to dominate central Asia,so who gets elected in India is least of their concern, but who should be kept out of the loop in central is their biggest concern, nor the Russians ,nor Americans will be happy to see Pakistanis coming in to central Asia, Americans are not even happy to see Pakistan dominate over Afghanistan, so central Asia is dead issue here. Chinese are tight lipped about their intentions, but you can easily guess that even they don't want islamised or radicalized central Asia.

Investing in India and propping her up to contain china is part of the American policy yet you seem to think that Chinese are stupid and they don't get it.

American hypocrisy isn't that Big of a secret any more in Islamabad and GHQ and quite frankly no one cares what they want they don't want us to go ahead with Iran Gas pipeline last i checked we are still interested.India on the other hand has bowed to Washington's pressure on the pipe line plus buying oil from Iran.i am not sure if noticed or not Chinese are still buying and investing in Iran get my point .

india is irked because China will have easier access to middle east and a relatively shorter route for carriage which will not only ensure china's further economic boost by also put a restraint on indias movement ..Above all chinese militarily presence there will pose a threat to india by limiting any violation ...... lets wait for some mischievousness from there side may be more intense efforts in balochistan by their dear BLA and spies

it s about what you cannot control, read between the lines pal, the radicalism are already spread through central asia, just go to any Russian news, and you will see they will be complaining about that. Russians have explicitly claimed the Chechen rebels have support form the Taliban in Afghanistan, and you very well know how Chechen rebels have destabilized the bordering regions of Russia, and terror emanating form Afghanistan and Pakistan has been the main support base for Chechen rebels, the Chinese have troubles in their bordering region dominated by Muslims, and at the last riot that took place in that region, a Chinese defense personnel exclusively claimed that there is enough proof to prove that the separatists in Chinese bordering regions are getting support from Pakistan based terror groups.

What does the radicals of Russia has any thing to do with Gawadar plus last time you guys screamed the same but that didn't stop the Russians from supplying us the engines. The only think here that is making you and few other Indians really upset is the fact this will help pakistan economically.

Americans are training and using the same radicals now in Syria with the help of Arabs other then you every body knows that now as they did in Afghanistan.

lets see the benefits of gawadar port to China and the disadvantages to india

China

a. China is heavily dependent upon the oil from the gulf, at present this oil passes via a very long route, through the straight of Malacca under US influence. After this oil has reached the Shanghai or the Chinese East Cost, it has to be transported thousands of miles in land to West of China. By using Gwadar port and than Karakoram Highway (KKH) its much safer, cheaper and shorter route to west of china.

b. Middle East is very important region in the world because of its Oil Reserves and large markets. China has a natural dependence on this but does not have means to influence it. Government of Pakistan has already committed to providing a Navel Base to China in Gwadar. This will not only help secure the Gwadar but also take the Pakistan China Friendship to new heights.

c. Chinese Goods will find an easier, shorter and secure route to Middle East increasing profitability and increasing trade.

d. China will greatly benefit from the industrial zone by setting up industries close to the markets.

in last meting with american officials, Indian quietly denied to form an alliance with US in its china strategy. this already well documented, and many Chinese even hailed this move of India.

India

India is threatened by Gwadar as this new port and associated developments will help increase the influence and significance of Pakistan. This development also brings Pakistan and China more close. A stronger Pakistan with higher stature in the international world is not welcome to India. India is also weary of increased dependence of CAR’s, Afghanistan and China on Pakistan, with obvious benefits to Pakistan. Pakistan will become an important player in the region through Gwadar and India is troubled by the very thought.

On the other hand if india remains peaceful and use gawadar port then,

This is one of the best and most advanced port in the whole region, it is therefore getting heat from many corners. In reality this is going to be to the benefit of every one. Shorter and more economical route to CAR’s and Afghanistan is especially going to be beneficial to India who eagerly looks to increasing trade with them.

Ahh.. a sane Chinese.

If its not to irk India then the whole premise of the article is wrong, poor Pakistanis happily cheer-leading would be disappointed they missed that chance.

I doubt when the whole pak army is afraid to step into those borderlands, how are your containers gonna pass through, you plan on paying the terrorists off?

And how do you know the next infidels the Mullahs declare Jihad on is not the chinese in the region, after all, you are declared atheists and hardly tolerate Islamism in your own country no?
well u surely look a frustrated hindu as is shown by ur derogatory avatar ,
other thing who said it was for irking india , it says it is irked .........
it is good for PAKISTAN , so ur *** has started to burn .....
it is based purely on economic interests and is gona serve the whole region ...

What does the radicals of Russia has any thing to do with Gawadar .

there is no link, just wanted to highlight that terror form Pakistan might spill over to central Asia and might become trouble for countries like china, Russia and US. and it has, your ministers have openly claimed that hundreds of central Asians attend Madrassas in Pakistan, and many central Asians like Uzbeks and others were were also captured during raids on militants by Pakistani forces, which all indicate that radicalism has already crept in to central Asia. this radicalized central Asia will not help the US, Russia and china.

The army has time and time again killed or captured scores of Chechen militants.

I don't even see what a semi autonomous Russian republic has to do with Gwadar or CARs. Your minds are adrift.

LOL. Look at what you wrote. Central Asian terrorists have been apprehended in Pakistan, so Pakistan is spreading terrorism into Central Asia?

Lmao. Fail logic.

Try harder.

Actually we should support China in this endeavor. If they are successful then more countries will invest in Pakistan.... it will probably embolden Indian companies to invest there. Regarding China creating a naval base, will it be accepted by Pakistan.

Chinese naval base in Gwadar is of utmost importance to put pressure on US and Indian adventurism.

We welcome the move and know that the trading routes will be secure.

With this we believe China will help in development in Balouchistan and hope insurgency will decrease in future.
Balouchistan is the richest of Pakistan's four provinces in terms of natural resources. It has gas, gold and copper. But the province benefits very little from these resources.

Terrorism in Central Asia

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on 24 June 2005 that members of the Taliban, IMU, and other terrorist organizations trained in Pakistan and Afghanistan for carrying out attacks in Central Asia and Russia. Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman Jalil Abbas Jilani denied that terrorists trained in Pakistan, citing the appreciation of the United States for the Pakistani government's support in the War on Terror.

of course, Pakistanis denied the accusation, but Russians firmly believe in the contrary.

Central Asian Terrorism: An Emerging Threat to U.S. Security

as the United States and NATO battle al-Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan, radical Islamic organizations are expanding north through the porous borders of Central Asia. The U.S. and NATO must pay closer attention to the spread of international terrorism and the negative implications for U.S. and Central Asian security.

The most active terrorist organization in the region is the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU). After being banned from its native Uzbekistan, the IMU and its affiliated groups spread south to Afghanistan and Pakistan, where its members continue to fight alongside al-Qaeda and the Taliban. Yet some of these militants circled back home. Weak border controls and harsh terrain make it easy for militants to travel undetected from Waziristan through the mountains to the Ferghana Valley and beyond. Drug traffickers also use this route to smuggle narcotics into the region and to Russia and Europe, and the proceeds are used to fund terrorism.

Central Eurasian and Central Asian Terrorism

The Islamic Jihad Union (IJU) is an extremist organization that splintered from the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan in the early 2000s and is currently based in Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas. The IJU, which is committed to toppling the government in Uzbekistan, conducted two attacks there in 2004 and one in 2009. The IJU is also active in Afghanistan, where the group operates alongside the Taliban-affiliated Haqqani Network

The Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) is an extremist organization that formed in the late 1990s and is currently based in Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas. The IMU seeks to overthrow the government in Uzbekistan and establish a radical Islamist caliphate in all of “Turkestan,” which it considers to be the Central Asian region between the Caspian Sea and Xinjiang in western China. The IMU has become increasingly active in the Taliban-led insurgency in northern Afghanistan, providing the IMU with a springboard for future operations in Central Asia. A known IMU spokesperson in a video message delivered to Radio Liberty’s Tajik service claimed responsibility for a September 2010 ambush against a military convoy in Tajikistan. The US State Department in September 2000 designated the IMU a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
