Dhaka remains 7th least liveable city globally 2023

Despite Dhaka's population pressure, it could be a lot more livable and charming if our policymaker do some not so costly yet very impactful intervention in Dhaka.

1.First and foremost, Fix our sidewalk or footpath. A lot of people are compelled to take rickshaws and buses because our cities are not walking friendly. We have inadiquate sidewalk, whatever exists, mostly occupied by street vendors and hawkers. So people have no option but to depends on road vehicles increasing traffic jam and chaos.

2. progressively reduce the number of Pedal Rickshaws and replace them with electric rickshaws similar we see in Bangkok.

3. Bus route rationalization is happening at snail paces. We need to vigorously push this project to cover the entire Dhaka as soon as possible. Replace all those out of fitness buses with electric buses.

4. Transfer all those inter-district bus stations at the periphery of Dhaka from current location of middle in the city. Govt. is talking about this for a long time but they are foot dragging to do it.

5. Make some roads pedestrian only especially in Old Dhaka.

If we make these low cost yet very impactful change of the city, Dhaka would be a lot pleasant to live. But our policy makers do not go for these solutions, they are only after mega projects where they can do mega corruption and mega looting.

I could not agree more, however getting rid of pedal rickshaws, Bus route rationalization and moving of bus terminals have become political issues. All political parties must be on the same page on these basic issues and speak with one voice. Otherwise these Goonda bus owner idiots will keep on exerting their influence.

People like Bus Owners association president Shajahan Siraj (or whomever it is at present) have BAL leaders in their pockets on a quid pro quo basis. If BAL wants, Shajahan can call a bus strike and prevent BNP workers and other people from coming in to the city for a mass meeting.

Bus owners can stop wherever they want on the road, charge whatever fare they want (beyond govt. mandated fares) and park buses anywhere in any area they please, snarling traffic. They don't care, because there will never be any repercussion from the govt. It is a veritable Moger Mulluk. This is why the Bus route rationalization will not proceed faster and why Mayor Tapash slowed down on it (probably on advice from BAL seniors and supremos).

This poll must be a troll, Kyiv? That country is at war, of course it will be inhospitable. Having visited Ukraine before the war in 2017 and 2018 Kyiv is comparable in terms of infrastructure to most modern European cities. Also I love how the only city from Pakistan being considered for this poll is Karachi, a city plagued with collapsed infrastructure, overcrowding, crime, poverty and poor urban planning.
 
The performance, system integration and load tests of Dhaka Metro Rail (MRT-6) from Agargaon to Motijheel has started. This is the 2nd phase of MRT-6 which is expected to be launched by October 2023. The MRT Line 6 project is being constructed at a cost of around 33 thousand 472 crores.

The first part of this route from Uttara to Agargaon was launched on December 28 2022, but the second phase is from Agargaon to Motijheel. And the 3rd Phase extension from Motijheel to Dhaka's Kamalapur railway station may be commissioned by 2025. Kamalapur will be a major multimodal transport hub integrating bus, intercity and commuter rail as well as multiple metro lines from within Dhaka city.



The third terminal for Dhaka's Int'l Airport is being built modeled on the most advanced and modern airports in the world. It will change the landscape of the airport once it becomes operational. It is going to be the country's first smart airport.

Passengers can reach their destination directly from anywhere in the city to the airport via metro rail and flyovers. The use of information technology to manage flights, as well as quality of passenger services and travel security measures are being increased and improved.

The work on the third terminal of Shahjalal International Airport is about 85% - and rapidly nearing completion. It is scheduled to be launched in early October 2023. If everything goes well, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport 3rd Terminal will open on a trial basis in the first week of October, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh.

These type of behavior are actually very common among the BIMARU Indians. These chamar are using their Metrorail in a same way like they use their regular trains. A place to poop and piss.:sick:

There are other chamar who justify urinating at Metrorail track because Delhi Metro have very few toilet. This is the ''World class Delhi Metro'' for you where BIMARU chamar openly urinate at the Metro Track for the lack of toilet at Metro station.:lol:
