I think PAF can still gain air superiority over IAF, despite the numerical disadvantage and technology gap, by exploiting IAF's weak maintenance, upkeep, depleting inventory and especially the logistic problems in any future air combats? Your thoughts?

Enough has been said about Su-30MKI but it's all on paper and it still needs to be tested in a real air combat while on the other hand F-16 has been heavily tested in several air combats with flying colors.

Totally disagreed. If merit was the criteria, then AVM Shahid latif was the most qualified for this position. Go and ask anyone in PAF. You will get your answer.

I heard he was from Multan and so was PM Gilani. Sad day for PAF. AVM Shahid Latif, being most senior and the most qualified has been robbed off by a crook.

I have the privilege to meet Athar, I guess year before last if I remember correctly, while he was in USA for training through a friend of mine who he was visiting. I found him to be a very nice fellow and we had a good chat about PAF.

I totally agree. I know couple of ex PAF officers who claimed to be course mate of some of the current PAF high command and in their opinion Shahid Latif is the best choice. The 2nd choice would be Khalid Chaudhry.
