What's new

PAF to get extra F-16 Block-52+ ?

F-16 is a great all weather aircraft and PAF has the infrastructure to maintain it as well.

Great news....while Coas in US, it could be true for WoT needs.

If a Northrop Grumman AN/APG-80 AESA (Sabre Upgrade) or Raytheon's APG-79 AESA radar, a Super Viper, similar to F-16 Block 60 would make more sense?

Plus: General Electric F110-132A engine with 143 kN full afterburning thrust with FADEC Controls and Advanced all-color glass cockpit.

It will give a significant boost to our capabilities.

PakDef Forums doesnot tell us that this is actually subject to 'Congress Approval' and USMC requirement is first met.

aint gonna happen. All PAF F-16s are powered by P&W, even if we get lucky and US approves a few more birds, they will be P&W powered.

on topic: We have flown these F-16s quite a bit in support of operation zarb e azab. It would make sense to relieve some of the flying hours from the older airframes by procuring more units.

F-16 purchase was always on cards... Money is the only issue. If we had enough in the first place we might have gone for the full option of 36. But i guess the delay was actually to gather enough money to buy more...i speculate..and the super cobra sale can be a counter by the americans to the MI-35 deal..Any thoughtful ideas??

Slave mentality continues. Doesn't Pakistan know that anything they get from USA is sanction prone and comes with strings attatched?
Why not spend same money to buy sanctions/strings free chinese or Russian stuff or make more JF-17s.

And cobra AH-1Z will effectively finish off MI-35 / 28 procurement and put us back into the claws of USA firmly.

Sir,

What a silly and thoughtless post.

Hi,

For the F 16's---we don't need the congress's approval---we already have the approval for 18 more. Correct me if I am wrong---thank you.

AH-1Z IF cleared for sale, would replace our cobras. The Mi-35E deal has already been signed. The deliveries will begin early next year. The Mi-35 is not a replacement for the Cobras. Its for Special Operations Forces.
Funny we buy American goods for special operations , and you buy Russian for special operations..
Times have changed..

aaaye lmao some of us think we shouldn't be selling anything to Pakistan :bounce:

Pakistan is clearly a Chinese ally and are in their claws.

so why should we sell top of the line F-16s and our newest Super Cobra so China can analyze them???

we have to be crazy to continue selling to Pakistan and still think India is going to turn a blind eye to it.

cut off selling military equipment and military aid, but I'm fine with continuing economical and humanitarian assistance to Pakistan though :usflag::coffee:

Pappy,

India cannot do diddly to the U S---. U S cannot cut military sales to Pakistan----. With so much instability in the middle east---failures in Iraq---syria---Libya---iran a major problem----buddy are you out of your mind to even think of that----.

Do you have a total lack of common sense----. As for the Chinese looking for the U S equipment----they don't need to look thru Pakistan----they have enough resources that they can find info in mainland u s----.

Hasn't Pakistan asked for the the AH-1Z in the past and been denied?

A devastatingly handsome (and lethal) beast:

I always wonder why the PA didn't request the AH-64 though. The AH-1Z makes sense for the USMC but surely the AH-64D/E would be far more suited for the PA?

AH-1Z isnt available for export until US Marines orders are met which meant Pakistan or any other buyer can't get deliveries till 2015. Same reason the AH-1Z lost out on Turkish and S.Korean Gunship tenders. But Since 2015 is approaching maybe we will finally find out what PA wants since they were holding out for the AH-1Z before deciding on any other platform.

The Mi-35s are not replacing Cobras so that order will be unaffected.

Hi,

There is nothing like the MI 35----pak military desperately needs this chopper for its operation in fata. If we had 20 plus choppers 5 years ago-----fata would have been cleaned up a long time ago.

Once Pak buy first 20 , more 20s will come automatically ....Its tough to cut first deal, rest come easy. Imagine Pakistan has huge fleet of Mi8, MI17 adn Mi17I
