Muslim women cannot object to husbands’ marriages: CII chief

that's your POV, but different societies have different meanings for equality and one should respect that.

That is why i said i do not want to discuss it further in the same post...... I agree that there are different society and their views are different, and my point was as a common man who would like to treat a women the same way a men has been treated...... But let us stop the discussion here i am sure you got what i wanted to say :)

Yes, girls as young as 9 may be married, betrothed basically, but they cannot be sent (rukhsati) to their betrothed until they are 18, give their adult consent and go through Nikkah. So the marriage cannot be consummated until the girl is of legal age as per religion and gives her consent to marry the man.

From the OP.

On May 22 this year, the council had ruled that a girl as young as nine years of age is eligible for marriage if the signs of puberty are visible.

Maulana Sheerani had said at that time that the concept of minimum age of marriage, which is 18 years under the law, was not in accordance with Islam.

“As per the Islamic point of view marriage age is nine years for those girls who have visible signs of puberty and the same is 12 years for boys, but they both become eligible for marriage at the age of 15 years,” he had announced five months ago.

My friend, you have potential to learn. Those who admit their mistakes are brave people and they learn and excel in their life. Let me summarize the issue at hand as follows:

1. Before Islam, among the pagan Arabs, there was no limit on how many wives one can take. Islam has restricted that to maximum of four wives.

2. The average lifespan of men in those days was short due to wars and diseases. As a result there were a lot of widows and many with little children. There existed no system such a social security hence to make the ends meet, these women would do prostitution or lived on alms . In both the instances, the kids would never gain a respectable position in the society.

3. To address this issue, and to raise the social/moral status of women, Islam allowed able men to marry up to 4 women.

4. There is no ayah or hadith that encourages Muslim men to take more than one wife. It is an allowance, not an encouragement. For instance, Hazrat Ali had only one wife (Fatima) until her death.

5. Permission from one's first wife to marry 2nd time is not mandatory but common sense and societal norms suggests that one should take his first or earlier wives in confidence and discuss the implications of the 2nd or more marriages.

6. A man must be able to take care of all his wives equally, both monetarily and physically.

7. Some men have higher libido than others and this is medically proven. In this case, it is preferable to satisfy one's urge from a wife rather than going to a brothel. However, it is only permissible if the point#6 is fulfillable.

8. Sometimes a wife is unable to bear a child for medical reasons. In that case, a man is allowed to marry a second woman so he could have children. Of course if the fault is in the husband, this cant be a valid reason.

May Allah help us understand the teachings of Islam in their true spirit.

So how does all this encompass to the 21st century ? According your self these laws were implemented to suit 7th Century or even earlier tribal society of the Arabian peninsular, So how does that suit Pakistan ? That had a more vibrant progressive culture even before Islam came there, A culture that did not need such laws to begin with

No i dont think so.. I went through the whole thread.. Only explanation i have got from some of you is it's the word of God and thats it

Now can you and your type grow up?

So why the obsession with cattle then? Answer my question, how many cattle do you sleep with, have intercourse with, respect, seek advise from etc.?? Because apparently there is no difference b/w them and a wife in your eyes.

No, he is not. An adult, by definition of religion, is someone who attains puberty because that is the natural sign of his/her ability to reproduce.

While we are at it, can I ask you what decides that a person becomes an adult at age 18, why age 18 and why not 21 which is the age allowed for a weapons license, why not 25 which is the age to contest elections, or why not 31 by which time the insurance companies insure super cars? I mean who defined what an adult age is? I just want to know your personal take on this.

Age of puberty can vary from person to person for various reasons.. Cultural(food etc), societal (Stability in the home, stress etc) ,Climatic conditions because it all depends on hormones

Adulthood is when a individual is mentally matured enough to be independent with his /her life and more importantly choices.. 18 or 21 years is generally accepted as an age for a human being being to attain that stage in current circumstances

This is what progression of human knowledge have thought us.. Something that would have been unbelievable, Unthought of in 7th century tribal Saudi Arabia

So you quite literally failed to read the paragraph:

In the twentieth century, Pakistani writer Muhammad Ali of the Ahmadiyya minority sect of Islam, challenged the Sahih al-Bukhari. He acknowledged that Aisha was young as the traditional sources claim; but argued that instead a new interpretation of the Hadith compiled by Mishkat al-Masabih, Wali-ud-Din Muhammad ibn Abdullah Al-Khatib, could indicate that Aisha would have been nineteen years old around the time of her marriage

or perhaps you deliberately left it out. In any case, the age of Hazrat Ayesha (R.A.), the mother of the believers, is heavily disputed and this dispute is what all anti-Muslims, like yourself, use. Also read:

Trust me, before you waste more of your precious time and ours too, that if you still haven't got it by now, you never will.

Nah.. I dont think it's just me.. But majority of posters including many posters have not got a straight answer from you and few others

So i reiterate.. How does 7th century archaic Arabian tribal law be relevant to 21st century Muslims in Pakistan ? Will save a lot of my precious time.. Tks in advance

Something like the fact that Earth itself can not produce iron and that all iron comes from the skies:

“And We also sent down iron in which there lies great force and which has many uses for mankind…” (Quran 57:25)

This is just 1 example. I hope it is also proof enough that some common man in the 7th century could not have known this 'scientific fact'.

Our God has not changed in billions of years, how can His law change in a few centuries?

Oh no mistake.. There were many Scientific facts revealed by persons like Lord Buddha, Confucius, Mahaveera and many more scholars and prophets too and centuries before the 7th Century.. You should research a bit more.. Advancement of human technology have given us a multitude of sources to enlighten us from certain dogma's we may be entrapped with.. Something that 7th Century Arabian tribals have not envisaged for sure

So yet again my friend i have not got an answer.. How does 7th century archaic Arabian tribal law be relevant to 21st century Muslims in Pakistan ?

What's in it to ridiculing :what:

This person is not an authority to giving any right to men ... But nothing wrong what he said ...........

hahaha your thinking maashallah....so you are clearly showing partiality ask your Mom about this issue and ask her about how she will feel if it happens with her . thats why hate Islamic Ideology

Time is changing. people changing. Thinking changing. This Qur'an was written for ancient time may be at that time this was well suited. But now it is just a burden rule book with lot of partiality towards women

Our God has not changed in billions of years, how can His law change in a few centuries?

I'm not questioning your faith in your god.. But then if your god has not changed for billions of years, Then what he told presumably to 7th century Arabic tribals cannot be universal.. Because humans before and after have followed his rulings in different ways.. because i'm sure to you he is the true god.. So what makes 7th Century tribal Arabic interpretation of his words more valid over others at that time who were way more advanced in culture, society and knowledge ??

Note: Im strictly talking about these Sharia laws, Not mainstream Islam as a whole
