sad incident ..no doubt...but I this story actually confuses me..am not yet ready to blame Mamata bannerjee for this....I would infact say that the its the consequence which were due to the Kolkatans thanks to the CPIm no improvement policy...I muself have visited SSKM many time after the change of Govt. I would rather say mamata bannerjee has done a better job than the earlier GOVt. atleast in case of Govt.Health deptt...btw still waiting for the source.

No. Wrong assumption. It is the fact, Indian doesn't like to help poor victims or leave them behind. Rats got the opportunity to bit him, I mean his penis. A superpower means a clean country and neat environments, obviously India is not.

Maybe ask hospital for how much cost to repair penis.

A patient died in hospital after his penis was allegedly nibbled by rats.
Arun Sandhukha, 53, from Sreerampore in Hooghly, was admitted to the new emergency ward of the at the SSKM Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal on December 11 with pneumonia.
But on December 23, when his family came to visit him, he was lying on the bed in agony, surrounded by pool of his own blood, the Asian Age newspaper reported.

'No nurse was found at the scene and he was writhing in pain. His penis had been nibbled by rats,' one of his relatives Bishwanath alleged to the newspaper.
Later that day, at around 4.15pm, Mr Sadhukha died of his horrific injuries.
The hospital authorities have admitted the presence of rats at the ward, Bishwanath claimed.
It had been a terrible month for the east Indian state's hospitals.
Earlier in the month, on December 9, fleeing medical staff abandoned patients to a fire that killed 89 people, the Huffington Post reported.
Police said six hospital directors were charged with culpable homicide.
Smoke engulfed the seven-storey AMRI hospital in the city, according to officials.
Dwellers of a nearby slum noticed the smoke and fire rushed to the AMRI Hospital to raise the alarm but were blocked by security guards who insisted it was only a small blaze.
Rescuers pulled 73 bodies from the building and another 16 died of their injuries later, said Danayati Sen, a top Kolkata police official. Most of the deaths were due to smoke inhalation.

Sorry state of affairs....but reporting is not very clear.....at least one attendant should be with patient round the clock....

Overworked hospital staff can not be expected to sit with the patient all the time....In most of the govt hospitals you will find best treatment possible for VIPs...other come here because they can not go anywhere else....

a sad incident . but it seems naive and somewhat premature to blame mamta for this . the state in which WB finds its self today is the fault of the communists . for 30 yrs they said they worked for the people . work like this could have been avoided.

by the way this is the first time in 4 decades the the communists rule no state in India.
