What's new

Zero state of our" RAILWAYS"

It is simple as that we need some honest souls in other departments as we have in army , airforce .......

The one who only know to work hard and more harder. Plus GOVT need to lay off all the employees they have now in railways and hire totoally new team . That willl change alot of things .I am very definate abt it.

Example where youth is running the departments fantastically are Motorway police, Lahore traffic warden , Punjab emergency service 1122 they are mostly young people and they making us proud with their performance .So its time to say bye bye to old fellow they have had their share now give some time to youth to make it work........

This argument falls flat as Army was the sole ruler in more then half period of pakistan's existence.

there are no short term answers to Pakistanis problems. they need to look at thing long term , invest into infra and building the capacity for self reliance . build a manufacturing base .

its something which Pakistan lacks .

The bottom line is that there is a lack of R&D (Research and Development) in Pakistan. There is a quantitative relationship between investment to R&D and rate of economic growth. Developed countries continue to progress and prosper by investing more funds into research and development programs whereas most developing countries continue to languish behind due to the attitude, that investment in science and technology produces no immediate benefits and any technology can be purchased from the international market.

However, some developing countries have realized the importance of investment in Research and Development as the most promising input for achievement of self reliance as well as socio-economic goals and aspirations.

A majority of the developed countries are spending in the range of 2-4 percent of GNP and even some of the developing countries are spending up to one per cent of their GNP on scientific research and development, whereas the research and development expenditure in Pakistan has been less than 0.25 percent of GNP over the past many decades.

Therefore, if Pakistan does not concentrate on adequate and streamlined funding in science and technology, it will continue to depend on the international market - even for railway engines!

I think Pakistan goes around asking for help in building latest fighter aircraft or a new long range missile than a simple television or locomotive from other countries..If priorities are such, no one could develop a country.

TCL Nobel pakistan largest selling television brand joint venture of china n pakistan company which is manufacturing CRT TV , LCD TV , LED TV And 3D TV . and about locomotives instead of wasting your time on bashing pakistan do search about Pakistan Locomotive Factory, Risalpur .

Yea right , llies,PAK invested wrongly with wrong a They bought Chinese engines only to please chinese partners for which paK call them friends/ brother etc, but what the brother gave them a heavier engine which can't run on PAK tracks and moreover they said NO to PAK , sold goods can't be taken back.

The Pak Asked India to provide Engines on rent to them, but India said , we have capacity of around 500 engines /year but requirement is around 700 engines /year because we supply to other countries so we don't have spare production capacity for PAK.

India also asked if we give you old discarded engine in after making fir for running then we required diplomatic / security of our engineers without which we are not interested. Now its unto PAK to accept the proposal or reject it.

India can help but it requires PAK to improve ties, but in present condition it not possible.

if our railway had used world's best engines same thing could happened with them too when our railway ppl will used 3rd quality lubricants for the engines and will not maintain the engines rightly dear even your super duper engines could not survive in current situation the way our corrupt railway officals handling the engines

Also the 'friendship' between China and Pakistan has limited what fields Pakistanis can go into.

Both nations are competing in the same export commodities. China due to it's ability to offer better prices than Pakistan, has destroyed the entry level industries in Pakistan. The Free Trade Agreement is one-sided as Pakistan is incapable of using the agreement beneficially.

If you can not create basic small level industry how will you improve for higher tech industries?

Russia could help they have huge Railway network. But trust deficit persists.

If any nation agrees tomorrow still it will be gap of atlest 3 years for new engines and atleast 1 year for 20-30 refurbished engines.

Brother we need to look at bigger picture. we really don't produce anything of international quality. railway factory risalpur is zero output unit. railways never got a fair deal. they got below standard heavy engines from china. they gave us faulty spare parts which is off no use to us and are still there in risalpur. the trade agreement with china is crap. they got a huge market of pakistan and we are just using their sub-standard products. we need our own industry , open more universities. build more tech schools , every pakisatni should get a chance to study. and very importantly make english compulsory. english is a global language. even our leaders and defence forces offcials cannot speak proper english leave aside normal pakistani. we need to gear up for every challenge. we just can't let ourselves to be fooled by others. simply by thumping we are patriotic we can not change the equation.

The problem is , Government does not gives incentives to Businesses (or it did not in 70's) to construct
Machines , Engines , Electronics

During Mr Zia Ul Haq's time it was common practice to read in Newspaper , that the "Government" does not feel its right to waste time on building helicopter or engines , when it can be bought cheaply from Japan

Its no wonder you see so many Japanese - Pakistani ventures , where actually the technolgy stays in Japan , the Pakistani engineers just put the bolts around the thing (Assembly Job) not really engineering - where you engineer a Engine per say

Even in Software , we depend this software to RUN on "Machines" and Hardware which we do not control ...

Pakistanis are really Neandarthals of Modern Age if you Fast Forward , I always wonder if Neanderthals could not survive because they could not use "TOOLS" well we Pakistanis can't use Modern Tools

We have 1-2 independent geniuses , but with out SOLID CORPORATIONS to nurture and SAVE the knowledge we are neanderthals

PATENTS - AND KNOWLEDGE stays in West with CORPORATIONS ...

Second issue is Self Destructive Nature of Pakistanis:

During Musharaf's time Railway was given 300 engines , and with capacity to Manufacture 2-3 engines a year , and repair

What happened to that initiative .. PPP ignored all the positive things Musharaf did , and burned down all boogies costing government Millions

This only happens , becasue UNEDUCATED , and weak at mind people are in position of power in Pakistan - and not to mention

100,000 employees of Pakistan Railways who collect pay cheques yet they can't keep facilities clean

INNOVATION IS NOT MADE IN PAKISTAN
Something made in Pakistan , that can capture imagination apart from few student efforts , but nothing inspiring CORPORATE lead that is BENCH mark of there you go that is MADE IN PAKISTAN

Something the world looks out to and say lets follow how Pakistan's doing things ...

Building a shopping mall , or a Masjid or new advertisement for PEPSI is the limit for our imagination

Which is only because heavy RISE in population

The real genius thinkers , and minds are berried down below

A nation where a revolutionary thinker like Imran Khan , can't come to power and now he is in his what 60's / 70's ?

Imagine if he was made Leader in 1995 , in 20 years he could have changed Pakistan inside out ...

That sums it up

But its old story , we could not even elect Miss Fatima Jinah, alot of people may not know that she was popular leader yet could not win in elections , when the sister of Qaid e Azam has no chance lol I think that shows whats wrong

Its far far more deeper then just railways - we need a true ethnic cleansing (remove all the uneducated , minded) retain the educated , progressive thinkers in society

Railways all over the world is ‘Mass Transit’ that the means for the masses of getting from A to B cheaply.

English left us a beautiful and efficient railway system, rather than improving it and converting it to electric we have destroyed it. During my Esso days way back in 1970’, majority of the upcountry goods and petroleum from the Karachi were transported by rail. Road transport can never compete with Rail if the goods are transported on time and in good order.

Our policy makers on the other hand spend billions on road and foreign exchange for diesel import use as fuel for trucks but ignored Railways. What do you expect when the Minister of Railways is quoted as having said that Saudi Arabia has no railway and doing okay so no problem if we have no railway also!

Doesn’t that Idiot know that Saudi has oil coming out of her ears and thus fuel for road transport costs virtually nothing. During my days in Kuwait, another Opec country, bottled drinking water was more expensive than petrol. How can a Minister no less, compare Saudi Arabia to Pakistan?
If people will vote in Donkey, they will never get a Derby winner.

May be we should ask India to let us have Laloo Parshad for a couple of years. For all his faults, he did do wonders with the Indian Railway.

By the way there is railway in Saudi Arabia and there are plans for major expansion in the
railway network.
