Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, who remains under the custody of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), was shifted to Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) this evening, where he was examined under the supervision of heart specialist Azhar Kayani, according to sources.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari was taken to a Rawalpindi hospital after a drop in his sugar level and blood pressure, sources informed Geo News Thursday.
The former president, who remains under the custody of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), was shifted to Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) this evening, according to sources.
He was examined under the supervision of heart specialist Azhar Kayani.
Zardari underwent angiography and other tests at the facility, the sources informed further.
NAB officials said this was a routine check-up of the former president.
Zardari's party however said it was not formally informed about deterioration in health condition of the co-chairman.
The NAB arrested Zardari in the fake bank accounts case on Monday after a bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected a plea filed by the ex-president and his sister, Faryal Talpur, seeking an extension in their interim bail.
The case pertains to transactions worth hundreds of millions of rupees to the two leaders' private companies, allegedly, through fake bank accounts.
