With the reinstatement of Zaka Ashraf by the court question arises what are the merits of being the chairman of PCB. Pakistan cricket had long been politicized, all the appointments were made on personal contacts. Now the time has come up when we have to make this a professional board. Merits for becoming the chairman of board should be a former cricket career. Only former cricket players who had played for the country should qualify for these positions.

Question is not the Najam sethi or Zaka Ashraf. We have to decide it we need professional chairman. Who himself has played the game. Appointing non-professional persons to this post is a disgrace to the professional cricket players.

I keep recalling Noora promise that they will bring clean governance by installing right people for the right job. This is how their promise has materialized so far - PEMRA chief being threatened, NADRA chief's daughter threatened and forced to resign and Najam Sethi as CEO of PCB!

Hi I can't say about sethi about cricket but I worked in ZTBL(zarai tarakiati bank ltd) Islamabad. Zaka ashraf was chairman of ZTBL. He has very bad reputation, ask any employee of ZTBL. Due to his bad policies, planning, he was much responsible for loss in ZTBL. Everybody is abusing him. Now in cricket??? WTF..... Anybody asked him about his experience in cricket?? Haha..... Welcome to Pakistan
Biggest problem everywhere in the world is bad politicians. In third world countries people don't feel their politicians need them. So they do not put any pressure on them. Or in other words we can say they do not touch their politicians with real issues.
Top most appointment done by NS, is one such example. People don't put pressure on NS, he is in the office because of them. He won't be allowed to do any thing irrational and illegal. These all appointments which these people are doing is not only irrational but also illegal.
People are responsible for their actions. If people ask them why they are doing these appointments and they won't be selected next time if they keep on doing this. I think they will stop this practice.
We don't see any sort of advocacy programs in our country. People in developed countries work for advocacy program or they start their own advocacy programs. These advocacy programs are very wide range starting from health issue like AIDS , Diabetes, heart disease all the way to domestic violence, corruption and racism.
We don't see any of these sort of activities in our countries. Crying wolf is not the solution of the problem. People have to first decide what is their capacity . what they really can do. If some one is educated he can start literacy advocacy and select a population rural, urban or suburban and then make a plan and start working on it.
Now come towards political corruption and nepotism. If people make some advocacy group on this political corruption. Spread word of mouth to other people, make a group, organize meetings and then touch the people in power and ask them to pass some bills to end political nepotism. Ask them to pass a bill for having strong penalties for these activities. This is the way west is working.

Let me remind you all who are disliking the reinstatement of Zaka Ashraf, first of all bare in mind that the question was on his illegal removal when everything was in line with the ICC. He fought his battle legally and lawfully and as a result he got back the position he was removed from. Secondly regarding his ZTBL era, this is total crap which some people are claiming. He being a businessman himself made ZtBL excel and flourish. If you directly sling mud onto his repute than that's quite unfair. He is a reputable man with strong morals!
Well very wrong to state someone with bad reputation. How come u calimed that he was responsible for the loss in ZTBL? He was infact the admin under whose charge the bank broke 60 year old records in revenue and business. Ask from real ZTBL employees how much they happy during his time and how much they are frustrated with the present president Ihsan ul Haq! and please be civilized and refrain from using slang.
Its not important for a chairman to be former cricketer because to clear you, a chairman is not the one who coach the team. for that purpose coaches are there to serve. A chairman handles other aspects of board as finances, international relations, facilitations so on and so forth. And any sensible man can do that very well.

I am not very much concerned about his legal appointment or illegal removal. I am very much concerned why there is no specific rules for the appointment of people on these posts. There is a saying what seems wrong is always wrong. This guy doesn't have any cricket experience. There must be some professional who should run this office. One who himself has played first class cricket himself.
