Interesting. IN old houses there seems to be space for an animal or two as well. Not so in new houses. It seems to me it is not just a new house they are being moved to but a new way of living. May be animals are all moved to communal ownership now ? i wonder what they do.

so the others don't have oil but perhaps instead farmland, forests, water/mineral resources. Chinese are an urban city folk. Gotta get those "poor" people out of the way in order to feed the cities. Take take take.
Same thing happened in Egypt, Europe, Canada, the USA, Japan, China, Philippines, South America, Australia.... everywhere. It has nothing to do with poverty alleviation or communism. It is about consumption of resources and making sure you don't pay for those resources.

Not sure, communal ownership in China doesn't stop you having your own private business, they could be getting some income from collective owned business and having their own as well.

If they were dealing with the UK or USA those "poor" people in Xinjiang would have been given money with which to buy what they want. Of course deal with the wrong oil company and it will poison the ground water and destroy everything. Some are good many are very bad.

I say again, You didn't pour money in. You spent the money on companies in coastal China and transported the stuff to Xinjiang. That is a huge difference.

Relocation is only a tiny small part of government poverty alleviation housing program, most Xinjiang's houses were built right next to their old house which residents don't have to move at all.

Did you actually read the report? China rebuilt this village and gave the villagers a choice, they can choose stay there or move to new settlements, the village is still there for those who choose to stay.
