Hotan is in hinterland of the Mighty Taklamakan Desert , barely 20 years ago, the locals were still fighting a fast losing battle and struggling to hold the last ground against the expanding ocean of sand.

In the last decade, the government built many water projects and diverted rivers to Hotan, tens of billion trees were also planted and the relentless onslaught of the Taklamakan had been effectively halted first and then pushed back. Now Hotan can be at ease, no longer being constantly in a life and death battle like it was a decade ago

The hinterland of the Taklamakan Desert in Xinjiang, which is famous for its dry climate and windy sand, recently officially built a large water amusement park in southern Xinjiang with the theme of hydrophilic education. The Happy Water World, a science popularization and exploration base for teenagers located in Hotan City, officially opened.

The total investment of the project is 450 million yuan, and the total construction area is 95617.44 square meters. It is a research and education base integrating music and learning, Hotan Happy Water World has a total construction area of 15,933.45 square meters.

Hetian Happy Water World took three years of planning to create eight Internet celebrity-themed projects, such as a wave pool that compares to real turbulent waves, thrilling skateboard surfing, and drifting boats that drift with the current.

The theme of the park features ocean, combined with tropical coastal resort landscapes and the creative landscape environment with interactive water play, and maintaining a constant temperature in all seasons, it provides a place for children living in the hinterland of the desert to learn and get in touch with marine culture at close range, and it also adds a new high-quality tourist destination to the southern Xinjiang region.
