Wow! The ultimate center of Islamic culture is embracing Art Deco architecture. How sad!

Well I don't think there is any harm in building new buildins to house pilgrims and make thing easier for visiting ppl

People who have not been to Mecca they should know most of the hotels are located far away and are not very comfortable

They are barely 1 star hotel , with bad service.

So

a) New contruction is welcomed
b) Saudi Gov is building for Pilgrims (Great) thank you

Now not too sure about the royal building , its un necessary every one should be equal when they enter Mecca

I do have some reservation of large buildings so close to holi sites

Provided they can build a mono rail service from the buildings to the steps of Mecca it would be great.

Due to the extreme numbers of ppl visiting Mecca Hajj is becoming a tough task and the need to improve the commute service bit more in Mecca , it does not helps however that Mecca the city is old and there are so many old building all around Mecca and its located on top of mountainous terrain

They second image seems to be a fake I can buy the frist image

What can you expect from these wahabi's.

In 1998, the grave of Amina bint Wahb, the prophet Mohammed's mother, was bulldozed and doused in gasoline. Irfan Ahmed al-Alawi, who chairs the Islamic Heritage Foundation, said that despite petitions from thousands within the ummah, the Saudis went ahead regardless.

The birthplace of the prophet Mohammed came under threat 50 years ago, when the House of Saud decided to build a library over the site. The architect then persuaded the authorities to allow him to preserve the remains beneath the library. Now the authorities want to concrete over the site and turn it into a car park.

The house of Khadijah, the prophet's first wife, was demolished and replaced with public lavatories. The house of Abu Bakr, the friend of Mohammed and father of AIsha who first compiled the verses of the Koran, was demolished to make way for the Hilton hotel.
