I actually think discussion on any topic should be allowed, and why exclude religion? Don't agree with forum policy on this issue.

Thread discipline is a good thing. But in a thread on a given topic, one should allow both supporting and dissenting voices, as long as they are focused on the topic.

Some threads are specifically intended by the OP to be a listing or compendium of relevant text. Others are designed to be a discussion. There is no reason why we can't have both distinct types of threads.
