Mate, in all probability will fire back!

Scenario:

* Thousands of women, free to move inside the 'town-ship'
* Thousands of women driving within the 'town-ship'

However, deep inside still feeling discriminated against. Why? :

* I can't still drive outside?
* If I can work so wonderfully here, why not working in the main-stream?
* If I can work, why can't I vote?

Yes you are right about this bit...Man are ungrateful...You give them a little breath of air and they want more!

Don't forget: Cities need maintenance and LOADS of support-works that need "man-power" to get done. Then what? Cordon off a section every month when some heavy machine need to be operated. Sewage canals need fixing.... etc etc.....

In the end.. you end up with more questions than you bargained for and a situation that is more fluid than what it is today.

Its an industrial area...women won't be living there permanently...Not sure if you know women mentality! Unless you suggest the men who will go there for repair works would cause problems

Now don't forget the wider implications: What about countries such as Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia with almost perfect laws for women, we will go 100 steps back, because of this little experiment.

Each of the country you mentioned is not a slave of the Arab world...I have been to each of the mentioned lands...AND no their thinking won't be affected as you imply!

People often ask me this question: Why are you so pissed off at the Arabs? This is exactly why. It's the aftereffects of policies and shortsighted laws, and social experiments made in the Arab world that even WITHOUT US DIRECTLY following, has residual affects on our society.

Yes, their policies are sometimes ridiculous...but many people are aware now that Arabs are not the ONLY Muslims...It is lack of understanding and knowledge on the people...that is for them to gain (knowledge) not by pushing the blame on the Arabs ALONE...I admit Arabs are partially to blame but they are not the sole owners to creation of this kind of thinking!

so you are speaking on behalf of Saudia women? what if they are happy to live such life then why you should get restless when you have nothing to do with them?

I don't see logic why they are stopping women to drive cars but again if someone don't drive it don't mean he/she become less human beings..they have drivers who take them wherever they wish to go

Why would they be happy when almost all of their freedom has been restricted?

Why would they be happy when almost all of their freedom has been restricted?

Restricted to what? To the city? No the city is just where they CAN go...NOT MUST GO!

. .
Why would they be happy when almost all of their freedom has been restricted?

Freedom is always restricted and i said what if they chose this way of life. Should we give them freedom or should they live according to your or bush expectation? Absolute freedom don't exist not even in a single society. Imagine in France there were women who were opposing the ban against veil because they did not wanted this freedom from veil. veil might be oppression for western but for them its not so we should not expect others to live according to our expectation and let them decide it what is best for them according to their culture/society. Its none of our business to poke our nose in their affairs

Yes you are right about this bit...

Talon, you're young and an idealist. Nothing wrong with that. I was one such fool, once upon a time.

You have been to these countries. Excellent. I have seen them, lived there, seen militancy taking foot-hold in them, just because of 'an idea'.

In Pakistan, I've seen the funding, seen the ideas foreign to our culture being implanted. Seen the ideas grow, blood spilt. Fought with the sick mindset, lost family members (some as young as 19) within the military engaging the brain washed youth. Seen whole REGIONS gone up in smoke.

Please enough with the lessons. We also have the ability and financial backing to pay-back in kind. Strategies are played with a calm head, spread over decades.

You see, people around the world are different in thoughts...Not all will think like you and not all Arabs would behave like Pakistanis...In fact many would appreciate that they are allowed to freely work!

I agree with Raja Pakistani:

Not sure of IQ but sad and really barbaric mentality! As woman I am disgusted with the number of "uneducated" "ignorant" people!

Uneducated - not in the terms illiterate just uneducated with world affairs especially when it comes to Islam- they feed off wrong media - yup let me clarify this before someone bombards me!

What do you know about me? Or about any Saudi woman?

Ok , you need to chill and stop acting so hyper. All the posts on this thread have been totally sane , except for 1-2. Guys can't help it if girls like you don't have a sense of humour. If you call these posts " barbaric mentality" , you must be from a different planet , learn to take a joke.

I know what you are talking about here but our rulers should be blame for all this mess more than not outsiders who introduce these ideas

NO one claimed anything...no one can speak for it it except themselves...and every Saudi woman has her own opinion...Not all would like what you say not all would support me...But by assuming the worst we are not doing anyone any favours! :)

Awesome question! He has no idea about these countries, other than what he sees on CNN/BBC/AL-JAZEERA, or from the sermon of the preacher @ local mosque in Birmingham.

I have met the Pakistanis living in the UK, most of them are stuck in 1958. It's like a theoretical time-bubble, where everything just froze when their parents migrated there.

.
Ceasefire!

I wasn't firing...Just throwing my thoughts...Since I have lived in Many countries I think VERY differently...and I have learned that positive thinking will not kill you...Asians should try it sometimes...

I know with all the war torn its not easy...but its the best to raise one's spirit...

If you fall, get up dust yourselves and try again...You will not gain anything from lying on the ground!
