Mate, even it is mandatory according to bible, do you see any one forcefully asking women to wear headscarf in Christianity?? For me, I am not against headscarf or veil or even Hijab.. If some one choose to wear it, she has every right to.. But I do not agree with some one forcing a person to wear these kind of things. Dont think that I am talking about Islam but some times I feel that all these Abrahamic religions holy books are written by some male chauvinists.

There are things that need to be done and there is not running from them. Y dont you cry out when west forces people to act against their own will , Y dont u protest then......... I can give hundreds of example where your role model west tried to undermine not just Muslims community but their own citizens..........

As far as Abrahimic religions are concerned I guess when you dont have any idea what you are talking isnt it better that you keep it close.

I cant say any thing about Jewish or Christianity book but i am 110 percent sure that Quran is very balanced . It gives rights to everyone from parents to siblings to neighbors to friends to wife to ur children ,everyone and everything has right and they are very beautifully described in Quran. For you to understand it you need to understand what sin is and how Quran teaches us (Muslims) to follow its instruction and save us from sins .

Here is quote for you :

"O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful." [al-Ahzab] [verse 59]

Jalabibجَلاَبِيْبٌis the plural of jilbabجِلْبَابٌ, which means a loose outer garment. See any Arabic dictionary like Lisanu ’l-‘Arab, Majma‘u ’l-Bahrayn or al-Munjid.

Al-Munjid, for instance, defines jilbab as “the shirt or a wide dress—القميص أو الثوب الواسع.” While al-Turayhi, in Majma‘u ’l-Bahrayn, defines it as “a wide dress, wider than the scarf and shorter than a robe, that a woman puts upon her head and lets it down on her bosom...”[6]

This means that the Islamic dress code for women does not only consist of a scarf that covers the head, the neck and the bosom; it also includes the overall dress that should be long and loose.

and there are not only instructions for women first comes the instruction for the men .

"Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do." [Surah Al-Nur][Verse 30]

.
that is not personal choice. if any nun wants not to wear it she will be ousted.

A nun... that's the keyword. Nun is not a normal person. It is someone who has taken a specific task requisite of that dress.

Is every woman in Saudi a nun? I don't think so.

Stop being hypocritical.

Basically, the Quran asks for modesty right?? Now loose fitting clothes can be anything as long as it is modest which is why Burqa is not mandatory, not to mention shalwar kameez looks better.

.
Yeah, I disagree with force as well and my father never forced my sisters to wear burqa or even a hijab. However the common misconception on this forum is that ALL Muslim woman are forced to do so and that is what I have a problem with.

Well, atleast I dont have that misconception.. I have seen Muslim girls who are liberal and easy going and also seen girls wearing head scarfs by their own choice and most of them are fun loving and easy going.. But there are some hardcore religious types too..

There is no such thing as a nun in Islam. Secondly the woman's rights groups in Saudi never protest against the dress code they usually do for other rights such as driving which for some reason the King of Saudis thinks is detrimental to his reign.

.
That is not the point, people on this forum think only Muslims have this mandate and I have shown them they are wrong even Doc has conceded that all faiths have the same mandate and secondly I spoke of Western Muslim woman who protested against banning of hijab which proves not all Muslim woman are oppressed needing to be saved like our Indian posters on this forum would like the world to believe.

lol, you understand the meaning of social pressure? Do they not get frowned upon if they decide to not wear it? That's social pressure, and in the case of veils there's none of that here. Stop trying to sell it, please.

The nuns argument is out of this world too, like someone pointed out, becomig a nun takes some amount of personal sacrifice and this women truly go there by choice after they have had time to ponder this while schooling themselves to become a nun.

You understand it now? Someone deciding to be a nun at age 20 and someone that has to wear something since he was a child because thats the way his society works.

Ofcourse they dont, they go for the little things first. Takes a lot to smash millenia worth of bad habits.

I was not referring to you anyway, I do not want to call out specific names because they know who they are *cough mech cough*, anyway there is not much more to discuss here nice chatting with ya.

Yes it is frowned upon but then again a lot of things are frowned upon yet people still do it so that is hardly an excuse. Secondly whenever a ban is enforced in the Western world who comes out to protest?? It is the woman not the men and secondly nobody cares if you believe it is bad habits the point is not all Muslim woman are in need of saving and some do wear it by choice so get that through your thick skull. I am not trying to sell anything here, the truth is the truth. Yes there are veils in the US, my neighbor veils herself everyday, just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean anything.

.
Actually the bible does say cover the head for woman, you fools just refuse to believe it or if you do you make lame excuses..

Actually they should be proud that they have moved onto the 21st century from 1 Anno Domini.

Yes Doc I do know that all faiths ask for the covering of the head, however people on this forum foolishly believe only Islam asks for it.

No Islam forces it, while other religions ask for it. A massive difference.

Am I seeing seiko here ?? :woot:

Why should I take some western country as my role model.. When it comes to religion, I am proud my of motherland and I dont have to look up on any other country as role model.. Off cource, its not a perfect system but show me a system which is perfect and I do strongly believe a nation should not act according to the wish of any one religion. A nation and its people are always above the religion..

As far as Abrahimic religions are concerned I guess when you dont have any idea what you are talking isnt it better that you keep it close.

I am not a scholar on religious subject but I do read bible and a follower of Christianity.. And for me some of the things written in the bible are so undigestible and I am not a big fan of all those cruelties done by Christian missionaries in the name of religion..

By reading all these, dont you think the Holy Quran is written with a tilt towards men??

Am I seeing seiko here ?? :woot:

Unfortunately, Yes:tongue:

By all means if they are proud that they disregard a mandate of their faith more power to them. Your second comment is not worth replying to and I have tried debating with you about Muslims in a different thread but you just want to criticize not learn so there is no point starting another conversation with you here. Maybe what other posters say about you on this forum is true and I don't have time to split hairs with you. :meeting:

Seiko nice conversing with you.

lol, already aggressive. And "frowned upon" is an understatement, my courtesy to be nice to you and your beliefs, so now that that has gone down the drain lets call it like it is....if they dont wear veils they are in danger of being beaten or worse. Who does that for nuns?

And on what basis you claim women want to be veiled? On the basis of the few that come out to protest, because they are totally brainwashed already? Please dude, you adhere to backwardism, if you delude yourself that it isn't do not try deluding the rest of us.

You claim women have free will to clad themselves, but as soon as they don't they get in physical danger. And that's freedom of choice for you. Laughable.

you guys have no moral right to speak on this matter
