With thousands of commercial vessels, how China controls the seas

I thought you were talking about the OP article, as for global sea blocade, no one will do this at least for now, globalization means no one can survive by themselves, espeically for manufacturing lacking US, so it's not really a worry. South China sea and Taiwan strait are the only two possible scenarios that China and US may clash at certain levels and those are where Chinese maritime militia plays out.
Well, good luck on that.

. .
And in case Mr Han job or anyone wants to know.

You can track a ship with either AIS, Marine Radar or Dead Reckoning position reporting.

I have been on a ship since I am 10 years old, my father was a Navy Medic in Vietnam, and had been with the Navy for 18 years, my brother was a afloat F-18 pilot for the USMC for 8 years (If Mr Han Job knows what Afloat is), I have a cousin who served in the Navy as a submariner, and another cousin who's active CPO3 with the coast guard going on her 16th year.

If you are going to act like a 5 years old and uses playground insult, then as I said, I will not be replying to you and just report your post, Mr EQ.
Explain to me how a 'marine radar' can know which ship is which when the AIS is off. Btw, I install and test and commission shipboard navigation, controls, communications and process systems. Try me genius. Lolol.

Dead reckoning reporting, please Mr LNG, Google.

You do know I am a Military Intelligence Officer and I use Radar for a living, right?

Anyone who watch one too many episode on The Deadliest Catch can pretend they are Marine Expert, if you want to test people knowledge, try how to adjust signature noise in any radar equipment to look for what you want?

Try me Bro. Mr Han Job now claim you install and test shipboard navigation, control and communication, with what? With the Lololol?

I suggest you tread carefully, because radar identification of 2D bodies is easier than in 3D, especially when speed in involved.

He probably have no idea what is "Vectoring". Otherwise he wouldn't ask stupid question like this.

But hey, do we actually think he is of any substance? Probably the infirm and the ignorant? I usually just laugh it off when he do something like this, until he yap more than he can chew, then I will have to put him back into his place.

There are probably 20 to 30 thousand ships of similar tonnage. Tell me how without using AIS, you can identify a blob in the radar as Ship ABc123 from Cosco.

Yes Mr military intelligence and LNG expert, tell me how? How without AIS, and using only a standard radar you can know the ship is ship ABc123 from Cosco. Hahaha.

Radar signature of 20 to 30k standard container or tankers, smart, so you are gonna identify it as a tanker then what? From which country or flag or company? Man, I am living with geniuses here. You telling me the Navy is going to catalog probably a hundred thousand ship signatures. Hahahaah a hahaah.

We can identify different types of airplanes based upon their flying characteristics, especially whenever they maneuver. Are you saying that we cannot distinguish out a tanker from a fishing trawler based upon their surface movements?

I am serious, can you tell me how you are doing it. I install, test and commission navigation radars, AIS, echo sounders and speed log on FPSOs, that's apart from the process control systems. I have a E&E degree from a reputable university with 15 years work experience spanning 3 continents. Please explain to my ignorant self how a marine radar can identify ships without AIS? How does it know that blob is ABc123 from Cosco. Tell me, enlighten me, surprise me with your wisdom... Lolol

Again, wouldn't waste my time with him, as I said before, he didn't even know what Vectoring is and started asking stupid question like that. He probably never even saw the inside of a Ship Bridge....

just let the mod deal with him.

Answer the question...Are you saying that radar cannot distinguish a tanker from a fishing trawler based upon their surface movements? I do not care what/where you were educated. Sounds like you are getting nervous. You might consider getting a refund from whatever college you got your degree from.

lol, you remind me of the time when I was doing the Radar Technician refresher course.

A Russian Tu-95 Bomber (yes it was that long ago) will not come on the line and say they are Russian bomber, they will Minick the flight path of Civ Air try to blend into civilian traffic. How would you know it is a Tu-95? You look at their flight profile, American Airline 131 will not go straight into a military air space and bounce in and out of civilian corridor and will not fly in formation........

My question was how does a radar distinguish between 30000 container tankers without AIS. How does a radar know this standard size 24000 TEU ship is ABc123 from Cosco. That was my question. Boy wonder thinks you can do this without AIS. How do you think the Iranians are selling oil? Lol

Unless you use satellite imagery and track its movement from port, there is no way to identify a ship, the word is identify.

A radar can distinguish a plane as Su27 or Mig29, and we all know its the enemy plane. Wht about the 100s of thousands of commercial ships, can you tell me hey this is from China or Bermuda or Panama without AIS? The answer is NOOOOOO. This is just common sense, if you can do this with Radars then why the fck do you still need AIS. Then pirates wouldnt be able to hijack and resell ships. Do you know what they do in Indonesia?
DAMN, I feel like all the cheerleaders here have really no common sense.

This is about radar operations, basic and advanced, and it seems you know zilch. One would think that if you claimed to work with AIS, some knowledge about radar operations would be associated with that experience. You seems to have ignored that knowledge. AIS is the marine version of IFF. Same principles but slightly different operations.

So, is it possible to distinguish out a tanker from a fishing trawler based upon surface movements? You are afraid to answer this question because you at least suspect the next question will not be to your liking and possibly expose you for the ignoramus that you are.
