Winning back US trust a big challenge for Pakistan

.
I think right now, USA is only interested in hitting Pakistan economically... what they are doing to us is no different from what they have been doing to Iran for so long... trying to make Pakistan a member of FATF Blacklist, plus asking IMF to refrain from granting a bailout package speaks volumes... I think Mike Pompeo's sole mission would be to threaten the new government with sanctions and what not, so it won't act against US's interests... that is, stay away from China (no CPEC), stay away from Afghanistan (stop bothering India), and stay away from Iran (no pipelines) ... of course, official statement would read something like "Haqqani network and other terror groups operating from Pakistan were discussed"... but we should know better...

It's interesting how much attention Pak-US relations get in Pakistan press compared to US press.

US wants only one thing from Pakistan, to facilitate their exit from Afghanistan with honor and dignity by bringing the Taliban to the negotiating table and securing a peace agreement no matter how fragile it is or how tenuous the terms.

The solution is easy. Don't entertain any American official planning to come to Pakistan.

Tell them how it is. If they don't like it they can ask India for help. Block their supply routes and halt all kinds of cooperation in their war. Pakistan needs to make a solid statement here. The US won't change its attitude.

Trump and his foreign secretary are about to find out once more that they are no longer the centre of the universe. To be more precise they are more like the centre of a black hole.

In that case, US should just abandon Afghanistan and leave Pakistan to deal with the aftermath. In fact, let China, Iran, Pakistan and Russia come up with a solution. After all, it's their neighborhood, they have more at stake than the US.
