even russians wont get it till the late years of this decade forget india getting it any time soon we should re start the "Tank EX" project with fully automated turret like armata and try making it as light as possible(18 - 20 Tonne) with a decent trophy like active defence system and a good composite armour as that is what is needed
why then go for armata why not make something like it which is quite smaller and lighter than it there are tanks bieng made where Carbon fiber and polymers are used in making entire hulls and given an composite armour and APC, remote wepon stations and fully automated Gun turret we need something like that as we need this sytem in high reaches of himalayas
maybe your right but we wont be getting armata before end of this decade even if we sign a contract with rusians now so we should start R&D on this light tank now (or we might have started already) where there is a will there is a way we can develop it pretty fast and why cant we use a single platform for all types of terrain u mentioned we dont need heavy tanks any more we need very light yet highli agile platforms for future wars on high altitude war zones which could easly me transported or airlifted and para dropped in the war zone at a very short notice and why just DRDO we can rope in some indian and israeli and posibally japnese private firms to jointli make this project happen as we have common enemies
