To tell the truth..Hindu fundamentalism existed pre-independence..but its effect on indian politics and indian populace was minimal..

Shah bano case actually changed that...it became a rallying point..millions of hindus who till then had no interest in religious politics suddenly started to listen to far-right parties...this sudden shift in mass political views ultimately culminated to babri masjid and rise of BJP to power.

Its becasue their hypocrisy came out in open.

They say BJP is communal ,but congress party and communist parties make alliance with Muslim league(india),MIM of Hyderabad etc,..

So are you comparing Ramdev/Ravishankar to Chanakya? Then please tell me what is their strategic vision? What are their views on international relations? What are their economic policies?

As far as I know, everyone knows them for just being babas. I have no problem with them entering politics, but what exactly is their vision for my country? Why should I vote for them?

i read his quotes very much impressed by some quotes some i disliked..he was a think tank and strategist ..i don't know if the same can be said about baba ram dev..his ideas seems to be not practical.
