some indians and westerners have a reflexive and pathological hatred of anything chinese, willing to lie to themselves to justify their hatred.

I think they are just projected to the same ignorances and bias without knowing what they really are. In turn, they carry those on and send them to a downward spiral.
Anyways, since those said Chinese collectively might be the ones that shape the future China. It is good to see how the west is making "efforts" to ensure a "friendly" future relationship with China.

As a chinese who has lived all my life in a western world, I have found that many chinese in my same position are similarly anti-west.
It is mostly because of cultural values, I was taught by my parents the values of working hard, getting an education, respecting your elders.
But in the western world, especially in the United States values are completely different. Most Americans believe in living now and paying for it later, they buy expensive things and charge it all on the credit card, then they look down on others for not doing the same. Similarly the same applies to education, in all of my classes the chinese kids would fight to sit in the front while the american kids would fight to sit in the back. The western media is also very negative against China but chinese kids are better educated about China and think for themselves, they also learn American history so they can see the hypocrisy.
USA media constantly criticizes China for annexing Tibet after Tibet declared independence. But Yet the USA did the same thing to the South when they declared independence except the violence was 10x worse.
I do not wish China to be a western country and embrace things like Animal rights, democracy, Free Speech because I feel that it will lead China down the path of social decay even quicker just like Japan.
