What's new

Why we need F-16 planes when we have Tejas LCA?

Because with the phenomenal growth of JF-17 in the pipeline, India is taking preemptive measures to catch up.

Gripen was also not considered in MMRCA
Gripen E has not Have any big Advantage over f-16 blk 70

Gripen failed too. If you ask who is a better plane then F16 is the one. And btw F16 is being considered on the premise that it will fill the low end fighter gap while Sukhois and Rafales get the high end task.

And like I said before it's not about getting a plane it's all about building capability and taking Indian production to international standard, which we lack.

I think they should also cancel Rafael and stick to teja

When was it rejected?
Only navy version rejected cause of overweight issue..
Is there any junk fighter navy version?

We only know of one junk and that's arjunk.

TEJA induction would only happen after support from US/ France.

while Sukhois and Rafales get the high end task.
What is low end task and high end task?

Because Rafael is superior and unfortunately darn costly too, but for a single engine fighter F-16 is best in the world

Indian doctrine is of 2 engine!
Since when this transition from twin engine to single engine happened?

It didn't even pass high altitude test at Leh
That was not disqualifying factor.
When news of PAF scored against Italian Typhoons with F-16 went viral, IAF got panicked and Rafael order was reversed, and F-16 jumped in.

Us will build the plane and some one in India will put a sticker of made in India on it.will make modi ji happy but not good for Indian indegnious programs.
Lockheed and dassault will help in tejas development but what pride will there left for Indian engineers and staff who are working on this project.
Instead build tejas in small number and either introduce newer updated blocks or start building a newer platform based upon the experience of this project.that would be something called truelly made in India.

.
Ever heard about Mirage 2000, MIG 21, Mig 27 in Indian Air force??
they all are single engine fighters - and in total of 550+ aircrafts.
