etu miyan r problem nohoi, hehote amar logot komoeo 30 yrs atleast aase, main bhaiyya population aru amar nijorey kisuman besi ke bhaiyya hobo khuje. hetuey. kapur pindha pra kotha kua style sab change hoise.

We have lost some of our good virtues because of them. Like complete independence & security of women. Maiki maanuh freely jole tole jaabo nuware etiya. And the ghetto system had creeped in our place, which was not the case, ever.

Recently read a Oxomiya book called "Patkair xipare mur ghor". How divergent, yet beautifully synonymous our culture was.

I hate humid places, you're covered in sweat all the time. I would rather travel Rajasthan, Jammu, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh etc.
Where do you find humidity in mountains of Arunachal?
Only places that are not commercialized are beautiful, Otherwise the poor infrasctructure development means places of public density are no better then sewage pot. Be Ghy or Shillong or Jorhat or Itanagar

I have not visited all the places you mentioned but I went to Guwahati and it was humid all the time.

Guwahati being in the rainshadow area is deprived of much of the Meghalaya branch of the monsoon, still rains a lot there but it doesn't feel as humid as Kolkata for example. We had a rampaging squall few days back when i was there during Bihu. You must be used to the hot, dry climate of North India which i can't personally stand. Suggest you to travel to a less explored tourist destination of Haflong/Maibong if you visit Assam again, the train trip alone would make the journey worthwhile.

Didn't know you were from Assam... Mur annual visit buror pora lagise, each year olop olop unnoti hoi aase. At least Guwahatikhon. Stilll a long way to go.

I feel, we have taken too much to the Bhaiya Indian's culture in the decades after independence. Hence our relative mediocrity as a distinct north eastern area with the great virtues as low honking, cleanliness, hospitality, friendliness, complete freedom and security to girls etc, which were mentioned in this blog as well. Assam is gradually loosing this distinct identity and becoming more like UP, Bihar etc. Upper Assam-or phale etiyau olop baaki aase. Kintu ei miya mokha xumuai loi jikon baaki aasil, taaku expeditiously naaikiya koriboge jen paaisu. Extremely confusing and frustrating times!!!
born n brought up, sir.
recently i got to read edward gaits' book on assam.
learnt a litttle about the diverse culture of this place, esp the ahoms. despite being of bengali origin (my great grandfather emigrated during the early 1930s), i am proud to be a part of this place (and that would be an understatement).
i believe, its not only the bhaiyya culture or the illigal muslim immigrants; but the blame also has to go to the bengali ppl who had their superiority complex. its the cosmos of being a part of india which is ultimately diluting the proud heritage of assam. lastly, assamese ppl are themselves to blame for being too lax in preserving their culture. being the majority, they let assam down of its ethos. but then it was inevitable. being a part of india played its part too.
i hope nobody gets offended.

No financial aspiration??

And Politics... Its a fleeting thought in my mind as well. Go back and start doing social works and get into politics eventually. But alas, it appears there is no place for a neutral and genuine person like me in politics in India. One has to be either appeasing type like Cong or the other extreme like BJP to make a place in politics. I don't want to be either one. However, if I can ensure some recurring income source there (not 9 to 5 job though), I'll definitely get into the social work bit soon.
i am going back to assam to try for the state civil services. if i can positively effect even 3 districts, i ll be happy.
after retirement (if i can crack the services), i might dabble into politics.

"riki riki, jaabaa niki" style.

I was first posted in Arunachal for a project. Loved every minute of it, I felt like home it looks like Kerala but a lot hilly. The super spicy food and some strange food is what comes to mind when I think of Arunachal. Sadly, I couldn't explore much outside the state.

Thanks for the share.
