If you want to make money, you're going to learn English. My ancestors did, and so has everyone on this forum.
Phonetic alphabet, words for everything (or words from other languages are adopted and become part of English, then English has a word for it), most programming languages are English-derived. Works for countries like India and Pakistan, where any local choice would cause sectarian strife - English is equally "other" to everyone. Grammar is very free, plurals are easy, no tonality required, no gender for nouns.
Chinese--- no one that didn't grow up with it wants to memorize 40,000 symbols to be fluent. 26, or maybe 50 phonemes and you're good to go in English. You can pronounce unfamiliar English (mostly) from looking at the written words. Not so much in Chinese.
