Why not have English be the only official language in every country?

BTW, Chinese characters are the only existing,the most widely used ideogram,It is now used for the oldest hieroglyphs,

English is easy. Everyone can speak it.

I've had this thought before when I was learning French but you have to realize that it's not so easy for everyone else and it would include them abandoning their languages. Also, why not Arabic (or any other language) be the official language? It's a subjective matter.
