Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and DRDO developed Medium Range surface to air missile (MRSAM) have started to be deployed on vulnerable airbases of Indian Airforce from 2016 onward and as production capabilities soon will touch 100 missiles per year, Airforce and Army is all set to nearly seal the western airspace with Pakistan with all new age air defence system which will force Pakistani air force to stay out of Indian airspace in event of war.

The MRSAM is an advanced, all weather, mobile, land-based air defence system. It can shoot down enemy ballistic missiles, aircraft, helicopters, drones, surveillance aircraft and AWACS aircraft. It is capable of engaging multiple aerial targets at ranges of more than 50 km.MRSAM is a land-based variant of the long-range surface-to-air missile (LRSAM) or Barak-8 naval air defence system, which is designed to operate from naval vessels. Each MRSAM system comprises a command-and-control system, mobile launchers, tracking radar and missiles.

The MRSAMs, which will be on mobile launchers, will serve as India’s replacement for the Russian-built Kvadrat and OSA-AKM systems that India purchased in the 1970s and 1980s. India has been searching the open market for replacements for some years now, and previously rejected other offers because they didn’t contain sufficient technology transfer clauses

In addition to that, DRDO is already working QRSAMThe QRSAM is a quick reaction, all-weather and network-centric search-on-the-move missile system. It can engage multiple targets at a range of about 30 km with two vehicle configuration for area air defence. The missile is a truck-mounted one with 360 degree rotatable, electronic-mechanically operated, turret-based launch unit..

QR-SAM missile uses solid fuel propellant and has a stated range of strike range of 25-30 km. Truck-mounted canister makes the missile system increase the mobility of the missile system ten fold over Akash Air Defence System and there are also many other factors which hint that QR-SAM missile will be game changer missile system for Indian Armed forces and will be bigger Success then Akash Air Defence System.

DRDO’s QR-SAM Tactical Mobile Air-Defense system which is designed to move with Strike Corps and provide Air defense Cover to the attacking formation is another headache which PAF will have to deal with if it chooses to intervene and come to aid of Pakistani Army.

A S400 system uses six types of missiles as interceptors to target enemy aircraft, cruise missiles, drone & ballistic missiles these are The 400km(rumored to be up to 450km) range 40N6 Surface to Air strategic interceptor designed primarily to target ballistic missiles and strategic airborne platforms like Bombers, AWACS, ELINT Aircraft, Tankers & Transporters. This missile is reported to have an intercept speed of up to 17000kmph that means even an F-16Blk50 in clean configuration will find it impossible to get away from a 40N6 coming at it from 300-350km away.

The 200km & 250km range 48N6E2 & 48N6E3 that is primarily designed to hunt all types of targets travelling at up to 4800m/s.There are two shorter ranged interceptors called the 9M96E & 9M96E2 that guard against aerial threats at up to 40 & 120km ranges respectively.

In the long-range end game, S-400 with the ability to hit targets as far as 400km over enemy targets will ensure that Surveillance aircraft and AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control Systems) aircraft even while flying well inside Pakistani airspace will have to be a bit extra careful and on defensive to ensure that they don’t provide Pakistani air force fighter fleet force multiplier advantage.

At first thought, one would assume that India has every incentive to station a number of S-400 systems – potentially up to three – in fairly close proximity to Pakistan. If equipped with the 40N6 missile, grounding the S-400 in the heart of Indian Punjab would enable India to stifle the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) from flying in key areas in its Central Command theatre (which is responsible for protecting Lahore, the country’s inland economic hub and second largest city). Similar positioning and results can be had in the south (in terms of Karachi) and the north (in terms of Kashmir).

READ India Can Now Attack Any Target (or City) in China with a Nuclear Weapon
The S400 has the potential to completely revolutionize any future conflict with Pakistan by denying the Pakistani air force the ability to operate freely within its own airspace. A single fire unit deployed near Jammu can control Pakistani Airspace all the way to Peshawar. Three such fire units controlled by a single battle management unit should be able to control all of Pakistani airspace east of the Indus. This has grave implications for Pakistan as a nation, consider the fact that Pakistan is only some 500km wide on average and the effect of a S400 controlling 300-350km of that airspace (deployed 50-100km behind the border) will be devastating to the PakikstanAirForce

Pakistani Army and Pakistani Air Force are known to fight their own separate wars without any synchronization and not as one unit as seen in the previous wars with India and in Kargil War, PAF in fact was completely out of the picture when IAF bombarded mountain tops where Pakistani army had intruded in Kargil War. Cutting edge air defense systems like MR-SAM and S-400 will ensure that Pakistani Air Force like in previous wars is not much of help to Pakistani Army.

Loool...they better buy the in the thousand as even i would strike initially with stand off weapons. Paf are experts at flying extremly low level.

Red = S-400, all 4 missiles. Placed to the east of Amritsar.
Blue = Barak 8, both missiles. Placed in Amritsar.
Green = SPYDER-MR. Placed to the west of Amritsar.

S-400:
1 IAF squadron = 12 launchers = 40 LR missiles, 32 MR missiles

Barak-8:
1 battery = 4 launchers = 32 MR
1 squadron = 64 MR

SPYDER-MR:
1 battery = 4 launchers = 32 SR
1 squadron = 64 SR

That's 200 missiles in ready to fire mode. You can engage 100 targets within that area.

And this setup is only for the IAF. The IA SAMs will be much closer to Pakistan and will be the first to engage aircraft and missiles.

Oh goody! I hope indians do put them in places like amritsar and jammu kashmir gujrat or rajistan even these indian assets like s400 and long range area denial units will he primary targets of D-day with suicide kamazi drones, stand off terrain hugging cruise missiles and covert human forces on the ground. If these are placed within 300 km range of pakistani terrirtories these things are very vulnerable. India would spend billions purchasing these things in decades and let us destroy them in 1 day? I dont think its smart to use these defensive weapons as offensive weapons cuz then they are vulnerable.

This is an amazing development cuz china, turkey , Russia, United states, India and pakistan are primary countires who have to deal with s400s and these nations are either developing strategies to use these in war or nations like United states, turkey, Israel and pakistan, taiwan are developing ways to penetrate or destroy these things in the first hour of the next war.
Edit: not to mention the importance of project Azm and hybrid stealth techonologies that were given to pakistan last year by china. Thse will prove very valuable.

Strategies are in place even before deployment of these s400 type assets thanks to nations like China, turkey and israel. This is going to be a decisive move keep ur eyes peeled planners.

Do you understand this lets the Indians track aircraft movements as it prepares for sorties? India will not be waiting for an hour or minute. Why do you think GOI is interested in getting these?

And it is Pakistan. Not China, turkey and israel we talking about.

Fighter aircraft will form the first line of defence, not SAMs. The SAMs are so you don't attack our stuff without being punished for it.

How many of your fighter jets, drones and missiles will be needed to breach our defences before you hit our main targets versus how many of our fighter jets, drones and missiles will be needed to breach your defences before we hit your targets? Simple math.

You know that the S-400 will be a real pain in the *** for your recce assets right? All your surveillance aircraft will be forced to operate 300-400Km away from the S-400 sites. And at that distance your surveillance plane will see zilch. You are not going to have a good day if you can't see anything worthwhile on the ground. And if you try to come closer, boom!

Both sides can track aircraft movements. All you need is a long range radar, which both sides do.

But the difference is we can also attack their aircraft at long ranges. So if their fighter aircraft takes off from Sargodha and climbs to 3 Km, you can expect the aircraft to be detected, tracked and engaged at that range.

So the S-400 forces them to fly at lower altitudes, thereby giving our fighter aircraft a massive upper hand when engaging from higher altitudes.

And once the Super Sukhois come in, the CEC capability will help the S-400 engage targets even at low altitude. This will push the PAF out of the battlefield completely.

Stand off weapons, terrain hugging delivery systems and suicidal drones with right amount of strategy & element of surprisr . pakistan air force, israeli air force, taiwanese air force and of course the united states air force are more than capable of destroying these shields if they are placed like ppl above suggest 200km near attrition border. Those will be easy picks if they are less than 20 launchers all near the border <200 km.
No one in the right mind will fly an aircraft within s400s range unless they are stealth. Hence this makes s400 and similar assets orime targets even during peace time. As for looking for them on the ground pakistan has every inch of India under settalite and human surveillance. Just like india has pak under monitoring with settalites, they just lack the human resorces on ground hence always a step behind.

S400 in right hands can be a shield of peace. In wrong hands that shield if used as an offensive weapon will call all sorts of wrath upon its user. If its defensive it will bring peace. If offensive it will bring war within few days of its deployment. In turkey, syria, india, China or pakistan. Henxe caution is required.

If those are your tactics against our SAMs, then good luck.

S-400 is not an offensive weapon.

Such a crucial system but why have Indians not placed order for s400 in last.5 years and still not negotiating??

By the time it gets delivered j 31 will b ready

its a new system. china just got it recenlty a month or two back. these things take long time to finalize. and we all know Indian's try to save as much money as they can in everything. they threaten to leave projects mid way if they find them expensive. that's how they function nothing wrong with that.
