Why Ka-52 AKA Alligator / Nile Crocodile (Egyptian version) is probably the most capable combat helicopter

So many of those KA-52s got shot down in Ukraine.

Also all footage of those KA-52s shows how shitty their optics are, unstable and poor quality.

Because in electronic warfare, you get a LOT of false alarms, especially in a war zone. You also get very few infra red chaf rounds to defend against those correct alarms and false alarms. People learn to look for a 2nd confirmation of the EW alarm, which since a missile is normally detected when it is in terminal flight, is often too late. Getting good detection is also somewhere around impossible from the sensors of most aircraft. The detection and warning would usually need to be passed on from an external site

A sane person knows ka52 is great helicopter. Maybe the best. Apache has not been used against fully equipped uniformed army with great no of aa systems. Take apache to ukraine it will be shot down like ka 52. Reality is drones are the best against anything while attack helis against non professional fighters only.

Alligator has better survivability than Apache due to having ejection seats. A lot of Apache crew were killed when their machines went down. Very rarely do Alligator crews get killed.

This is what I said. AH-64s are combat proven against asymmetric warfare (Afghanistan, Egypt, Iraq, Israel etc...) but in real war.

What is changed from the Russian version other than the Electroptical system and a more sturdy material?

dude, you are saying war in Afghanistan, Egypt, Iraq and Israel did not count.

It's not because of whether or not that is asymmetric warfare or the enemy is second class, it's not about "Real" war, because every war is real war when someone has to die. The problem is how they use their platform, it does not matter if they are Russian, Ukrainian, Iraqi, or Houthis, as long as they use that platfom in an effective manner, that will be enough to kill. Saying what you said is like saying Iraqi insurgent or Somalia militia don't know how to fight, yet they brought down Blackhawk and Apache just the same

I have talked to some Attack Chopper jock about how Russia uses their Attack Chopper, not just about the equipment itself. There are indication that Russian don't really know how to conduct coordinated Air-Ground attack, what they did is ram the chopper in, tilted the cockpit up and then fire, that mean they weren't clear of SAM or AA, that means they went in the attack solo without saturating the area with Air Asset or Artillery Asset, YOU NEVER DO THAT IN WAR. That is why they lose that many chopper, because you expect to go in Air Defence zone alone without getting shootdown gunning with Manpads and SAM. it doesn't matter if KA-52 is state of the art, it doesn't do jack shit if the pilot or whoever control that unit is an idiot.

If you compare Apache Guardian to Ka-52, Apache Guardian may be a bit more advance than Alligator, but they wouldn't be shot down like this if it was the US who attack Ukraine.
