There's one more thing you should know: after the 1971 debacle, according to the declassified U.S. State Dept. record, India offered to annex Kashmir outright, making the LoC the border; Pakistan would have had no choice but to comply. But Z.A. Bhutto begged India to let Kashmir remain "disputed". Pakistan was born and power centralized due to Kashmir, a course leaders like Z.A.B. and Jinnah deliberately sought and couldn't envision doing without.
