Why is Tamilnadu Angry ?

You have to help me find it - I went through the archives in that link and the closest I could find was why the parties asked for a Dravidian state and not a Tamil state - meaning TN, Karnataka, AP and Kerala which was a non-started anyway

Sorry. Gave ypu wrong link.
See the following link. If you are short on time, just search 1963 in that page. It will take you to the para discussing the draconian inti-democratic Indian law that ban parties that seek independence.

TN independence and DMK and Annadurai

thanks - but a law banning ability to contest election for public office if one asks for separation from the country is not draconian at all. In fact it is logical: if you don't want to be part of India, why should it bother you if you cannot seek elected office in India? To me it seems like these guys wanted to eat the cake and have it too!

The factors the finance commission takes into account when deciding the state share of central taxes appear to be awfully simplistic, even regressive

The streets of Tamil Nadu are already overflowing with real and imagined grievances against the Indian state. The recent Jallikattu protests stand testimony to that. The central government unfortunately seems to be pressing ahead with making the real ones more real and imaginary ones less imaginary.
