That was uncalled for.

“We all know that Oscar Wilde would never refer to himself in the third person.”
~ Oscar Wilde on me, you, them, us, and himself

If I choose to wear a hijab, will you let me? – The Express Tribune Blog
If feminism did one thing right for women it was to provide us with an abundance of choices. Something the fair gender hadn’t really experienced before. Whether it was the choice to wear pants and throw away those constricting corsets, or the choice to go out and vote and make a difference in the world. We could drive, abort or use contraceptives.

These are the same choices that helped women like you and me get PhDs, work in male-dominated industries and hold top level positions and get equal pay. We could literally be men if we wanted to be!

But if liberties and choices for women were what feminists were fighting for then why are they the first ones to judge, reprimand and rage against the women who choose to don a hijab?

Feminists preach that women must be judged by their mental capabilities and talents and not by their sexuality and physicality. So why do they look down upon a woman who is daring to put that theory into action? In a world that demonises, demoralises and demotes women to mere sexual objects, isn’t wearing a hijab the greatest form of rebellion?

They call hijabis ‘oppressed’, but aren’t the people judging and mocking her choice the real oppressors?

In the same way, women who choose to not wear the hijab are shown the same narrow-mindedness and pettiness when they don’t wear a hijab in a Muslim country like Saudia Arabia or Iran. They are oppressed in the same way with exclusion, torture and even death for that one choice they make.

But aren’t both women only exercising their choices?

Wasn’t the point of the feminist struggle and the resulting empowerment a way to help women exercise their choices? To not be judged?

So in light of Hijab Day, which was September 4 let’s do one small thing from now on. When you see a woman passing by covered from head to toe, show her some compassion and let her exercise that choice. At the same time, when you see a woman wearing something you’d consider skimpy, don’t roll your judgmental eyes at her for she is also only exercising a choice.

Because the point of it all was to not let anyone squander away our choices.

All of you mentally slaved people will sing praises of Scarf if a Hollywood Actress wears it...
But until the time its part of Islamic teachings you lot will oppose it...

you can say what you want, but so can i ... i have been to 42 countries and seen all types and forms of feminine flesh......
For your info even a white Caucasian man on a Nudist beach does not like another man staring at the privates of her woman.....and wont like if the woman with him is overly friendly with another man than him..
So there you go..Islam knows "Human nature" and has limits and boundaries for making life easy...
Although i am aware that a child throwing a tantrum does not understand any logic or explanations and keeps repeating himself with nonsense babbles...
Look up the Keyword "Satr" and its definition for men and women...

The trouble is that most of you who come here raising very "Brainy" questions about Islam are either Non-Muslims who are brainwashed by 9/11 Crap and American Anti Islam Propaganda as your life is spent in front of TV..
Or are Muslims who went to the mosque last year and cant remember when was the last time they actually read any religious book and don't have the self control to even raise their buttocks from their beds in the morning to Pray Fajr prayer....
No wonder your feverish attacks on base of Islam are a cover for either your hate against Islam or your ignorance about Islam or just a rant to cover up your own failure to Practice Islam and want to lower Islam to the abysmal level of yours where it becomes nothing more than an English words of 5 alphabets, and being Muslim means no restrictions and no Prayers and no self restrains.

Could you stop labling and judging people? The debate is here about a group of people forcing themselves on the others and dictating them and the other side resisting them. Now you tell me which side are you with? The Taliban or people who want to be left alone.

Thirty one pages of mostly guys arguing what a woman should wear!

And lost in the discussion is the basic fact that it is, and should remain, a woman's choice what she wears and for whatever reason she wears it (except coercion).

Well, let the west imposed brains think they are progressive. I think the best way is to ignore these weak minds. You can't have a healthy discussion with people like these.

I agree! However, can you agree that there will be little to no coercion, physical, sentimental or psychological?

You show me 10 samples under your conditional guarantee, I'll show you 100 under mine, and then raise 50 on top!

So, what's your final take on this?

Induct Hijab into Law, and implement some run down version of Sharia?

This is not an academic discussion, more of a simulation of tag-along-events that will accompany, the supposedly harmless gesture / appeasement of the fundamentalists!

The trouble is you lot are working hard to present Islam in the worst possible way...
and you are wrong...Read the thread and most have problem with Hijab itself....

Be thankful to Allah that you are living in Secualr turkey, you wont know how it is until you taste what we have tasted.

The State should have no say in the matter, one way or another. Sharia law doesn't enter into the matter, since there is no law to be enacted.

As to coercion, that is part of a wider problem of domestic violence and women's rights, which should be addressed as a first class issue in itself rather than focusing on specific manifestations of it.

@Safriz

I don't think anyone here is opposed to Hijab by choice.
Albeit presenting the "Terrible act of wearing Hijab" as terrorism, reason of Demolition of twin towers...Sign of Muslim men weak at manhood,National Security threat greater tha ICBMs and Nuclear stock piles....
True that the "Libral Nazis" will make any lame excuse to shove their ideology down our throats, but vehemently forbid the religious folks from presenting religious ideas to them....
