Why is government forcing LCA down Indian Air Force's throat?

that is a basic pakistani tactik when you despite all your efforts are unable to force your enemy to stop making itself stronger and in prcess making you lookweak simpli make fun of it and by this they might loose there confidence but that aint happening and deu to utter fear of becoming obsolete themselfs and frustaion of watching the enemy getting stronger by each passing day what else they can do

even if as @Omega007 says AESA is not avilable and tejas onli manges to cut 500 KGs than 1000KGs as prescribed even then it has a very good and leathel radar , EW suite, wepons pakage and since its very light and compact with most of its body made owt of carbon composites its less prone to rigrus maintainence and feul efficient and we have all the capability to mass produce it LCA is gonna be a serous headache to PAF top brass in coming years and a problem that will continue to grow for them

as for air force for way too long they have had a joyride at expence of tax payers money and they know it

even a force of 120 tejas is more potent than equal numbers of Mig21s and mig27s combined and that even IAF is not denaying

thing in short is : pakistanies are realli scared of LCA tejas as it will open the gates for HAL /ARDE to go for a smooth ride to make AMCA for which they have no answer nor can they efford in near future :coffee:

Problem with Pakistanis are that they are pumped with the glorification of their superiority by their Leaders so much that they could not see whats happening around. For example the LCA is IOC-2 and only FOC is left which is only the certification, some fitting and more of the software stuffs and they are living in the world where LCA could not fly.
They are forgetting that the project LCA is not only the fighter plane but the project ot lower the critical technological gap. The LCA is not only the Tejas MK1/!A but whatever upgradation is hapening in Mig-27, and Jaguars Darin.
Somehow they are still in 1965 when the PAF pilots with great dog fighting skills beats the IAF on the airbattle. So many threads and various articles pumped this glorifications even by the great PAF former officers in their books how paf sabre destroyed hunters down, but what they fails to mentioned is that When IAF plane as attacking the advancing armours and tanks they were in the STRIKE configuration, i.e loaded with bombs and the rocket which is not a match with the highly trained by the US , pilots of PAF with the SABRE with the A2A configuration which is not only lighter but more agile. Now its not the number of fighter you have distroyed in A2A that matters but whether IAF achieve its objective i.e to pound the tanks that matter.

In the similar ways the Tejas whether 1000 flaws is helping the country to bridge the technological gap which is implemented or will be implemented in future. All the so called experts here comenting on the LCA problems are getting the information from the Indians like CLAW, CAG reports, and what ever they could get that for their own beloved JF-17 could only be what the broucher published in China since there is no auditing agency in Pakistan.

in short: pakistanies are still living in past and think india is still as weak as it was in 1960s and that is what there establishments propoganda machine is still surviving on :sarcastic:

thing is there bubble of so called best fighter pilots and training is slowly loosing air and there myths about indian weakness is getting too shrill to ignoare they had a taste of it in siachin and kargil but there false pride and ego is not letting them aknowledge that

and that attitude is owr biggest asset ... isnt it :azn: :coffee:

No its high time we should leave Pakistan and look forward in other things focusing in the economical growth and the growth of the technologies and knowledge in the country. If we keep on getting involved in this never ending INdo-Pak saga, we are the only one looser, because pakistan, herself is in great caos, and the international debts which she have taken have reduced the pakistani bargaining power so much that she is no more the threat. India should concentrate on PLA and PLAAF and PN now. We should leave Pakistan aside for 10-15 years aside, let her houl and make whatever noise whether kashmir, or terrorism don't respond at all, because she is only wasting our time.

LCA may a worst fighter plane but it is better than JF17....
Can you imagine iaf and cag reaction if ada had developed the equivalent of a jf-17? All metal instead of composite, no fbw, mig-21 like airframe instead of an advanced complex delta, old obsolete Russian engine with less than half the life of a ge-414, third rate radar...

Just imagine the scene. Shows how much the gap is between the two air forces, the iaf is far more choosy about its lightweight "numbers" fighter than the paf is about their main jet.

So many articles and from so many articles creation of so many threads

PM Narendra Modi's Make-in-India plan could hurt IAF

There is one news agencies called Reuter. Most of the articles are sourced from Reuters . You just have to plant one in Reuters or AFP to get coverage first in all tier 2 newspapers and then to trigger "exclusive investigation" reports from tier 1 newspapers and channels. Everyone loves a good controversy, and the so called devense generalists could earn money to feed his children.

Lets see what our experts view on that

Retired Air Marshal M. Matheswaran, a former deputy chief of the Integrated Defence Staff, said the LCA was obsolete.

"It is a very short-range aircraft which has no relevance in today's war fighting scenarios. If you are trying to justify this as a replacement for follow-on Rafales, you are comparing apples with oranges."
He said the plane was at best a technology demonstrator on which Indian engineers could build the next series of aircraft, not something the air force could win a war with.

Now you know from where does the Desi media got the world OBSOLUTE.
But check what he want to say short-range aircraft -- Lca is point defence so whats the problem Janab
If you are trying to justify this as a replacement for follow-on Rafales -- Who is saying Rafale its the replacement of MIG -21
best a technology demonstrator -- Thats need to be checked for that check what about its shortfalls post IOC-2

1. Radar range problem -- Better with Mig -21bis thats what it is replacing
2. Short range -- Same as Mig 21 bison
3. No aeriel fuel probe -- Bison don't have either
4. STR less --- So Mig21 was the best anyway why in the light of HOBS like Python 5 and R-73.
5. No IOC no FOC no Induction -- when Jaguar served india for 1 decade with faulty navigational sensor, Mirrage 2000H joined IAF with 7 years without any missile only guns, Su30-MKI posted to Srilanka with Guns only wanted internal jammer, rwr, maw in LCA, question is does MKI have internal jammer, does it have MAW till now LOLZ
6. He said the plane was at best a technology demonstrator on which Indian engineers could build the next series of aircraft, not something the air force could win a war with. -- Our first attempt to build the fighter plane was H24 Marut and earlier on India did work on GNAT and probably was impressed with it, a small nimble, agile fighter but why LCA is smallest of any 4th gen fighter, thus creating so much problem in putting the stuff packed inside the fighter plane, its because it is build on the GNAT. And have the Designer not gone for the higher tech. implemented like FWB, FADEEC, Glass cockpit, composite structure the IAF would have scraped it into dustbin.

I am working on compiling all this bullshit in the form of project, will post duly when ready.

Ruag Aviation is getting the airframe build by the Tata aerospace, then why not ask tata to build, because they have experience in C-F-C building of airframe.

The only thing I am concerned with MK1A is that lack of re-testing. Even with so many years of testing and attaining IOC, we see articles about it's safety. A single failure at this stage will surely bury this project forever.

Very good. The airframe should remain the same, change the electronics and sensors. But changes to the wing or other exterior areas will esquire full testing. Which could take a long time.

There is no such as MK1A, its the same MK1 with some added features than the original MK1, just like what ADA propose MK1P for the export, but that does not include any external aerodynamic changes that needs more flight testing. Various electronics LRUs could be flight certified on any other aircraft.

thats right there is no such thing as MK1A,P XYZ its MK1 which is bound to get lighter and with a few improvemnts in airframe , wings and other parts and a lighter landing gear and even if they dont add AESA as of now even then EL-2032 is a pretty good and with a air to air refeuling probe and onboard oxygen genrating system tejas can stay inair for much more time for air patroling

for 25million for such a pakage is a good bargain considerring its capabilities and rates of other compition
