Yes, Buddhism is a Dharmic religion that originated from South Asia, so it makes sense that there are a lot of similarities.
Dharmic religions share a similar worldview, for example they believe in karma and reincarnation. There is no "permanent heaven or hell" like in the Abrahamic religions.
For us, what happens after you die is you appear before King Yama in the underworld for judgment. You only stay in the underworld long enough to "reset" your karma, after which you ate reincarnated into one of the planes of existence.
I guess I will probably be reincarnated as an 阿修羅 (Axiuluo = Asura).
The bold parts, is it Buddhism or Hinduism you are talking about?
We have King Yama too, even Japanese and Koreans believe in that.
