Why Indian soldiers prefer the AK-47

Well I still dont know why people think that AK is not accurate? People have fired only the 7.62 round which has a very massive climb and with plastic stocks kicks like a mule. But the AK 74 with its 5.45 mm round is by far the most controllable weapon I know in full automatic.

But the CRPF doesn't use the 74 variant but AKMs only, imported from Bulgaria and Romania!!

If you are right, then the CRPF is wrong:

CRPF asks govt to replace all its Insas guns with AK rifles :Nov 13, 2014
Could be advance akzz but they were using isrealis rifle as well..

Kashmir were seen holding TAR-21 (Tavor Assault Rifle for 21'st century).

The rifle which costs around US $6500 is one of the most modern assault rifles available in the world.

Tavor uses the compact Bull pup design and has improved hit accuracy.

It can accommodate a 30 round magazine and sustain a rate of fire of 750 - 900 rounds per minute.

The 2.8 kg dark green Tavor rifle is also designed for night fighting.

The army hopes that its ergonomics, reliability in heat and sand, and fast-point/ fast-shoot design might give them an edge in close-quarters shootouts and employment from inside vehicles.

The army hopes to have an edge over insurgents armed with AK rifles.

The Tavor rifles were designed by Israel Military Industries (IMI, now TAAS) company, in close cooperation with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) during 1990's.

In 2002 India signed a deal with Israel for the purchase of 3070 Tavor assault rifles worth US $ 20 million.

Army is on a modernisation spree and is trying to replace its aging weaponry particularly

Israel too has replaced their Colt M4/M16 rifles with compact Tavors

India's paramilitary and counter-insurgency Central Reserve Police Force CRPF ordered 12000 Micro Tavor (X95) rifles (designation X95), with the rifles entering service in early 2011. Following the use of the weapon by Indian forces fighting the insurgency in Kashmir, CRPF commanders have stated that the X95 is a more effective assault rifle than the AKM, due to its small size, power, longer range and lighter weight

Ak47 is ok but its good for the police related force
The latest ak15 and ak12 is best for the indian army

.
Why cant we make our own guns when we can send successful Mars and Moon Missions ? Seems like corruption and kickbacks are the reason.

.
Getting a ak is suicide only thing it is reliable and worlds worst accuracy even ww1 weapon would be more accurate than ak47 .ar 15 and m4 would be a be s great option in close combat it would prove to be a sniper because of its accuracy

 what? You have clearly never shot an AK-47. Quality variants with good ammunition have been known to shoot less than 1 inch groups at 100 yards.

I have shot thousands of rounds through mostly the AK-74 platform and the accuracy is about as good as most other foreign rifles I have shot.

If you don't believe me there are many videos. Another myth is that the AK has no range, plenty of videos of AK-47s hitting human size targets as 400 yards.

What Pathetic Lie Insas Better than Standard AK Both Accuracy And Reliability

Both are Outdated Now

Excalibur

The prototype had two stoppages after firing 24,000 rounds, which was very close the army's specification of one stoppage. It was also reported that another prototype of Excalibur, AR-2, was being prepared which would fire 7.62x39 mm rounds of the AK-47

By September 2015, it had passed the water and mud tests, which four of the foreign rifles in the tender competition had failed. It was also reported 200 rifles were being manufactured and that prototype would undergo formal trials in late 2015

Four rifles Which failed the test

February 2014, the four rifles remaining in the competition were the CZ-805, ARX-160, Galil ACE, and Colt Combat Rifle.
INSAS is no where close to AK when it comes to reliability in fact even USA soldiers were seen using AK instead of their M4 during peak years of Iraq war.

These are All rumours Spread by Foreign Lobbies and their agents Which Lacks Technical Facts and Factual reports

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed a PIL asking to replace "substandard" INSAS (Indian small arms system) rifles used by Indian armed and para-military forces with modern firearms.

A division bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath dismissed the plea saying it lacks any material or substantial details to show any shortcomings in INSAS rifle.

The court also said that central government had said that it is in process of procuring a new assault rifle - not because INSAS technology is outdated but to ensure availability of latest weapons.

"The petition clearly lacks any material or substantial details to show any shortcomings in INSAS rifle as to warrant any interference or directions by this court in the public interest litigation (PIL)," the bench said dismissing it."

The PIL was filed by Lt. Col. Deepak Malhotra (retd), who alleged that the government delayed the replacement of "these unreliable assault rifles" despite knowing for several years that they were of a "defective design and

You really need to re check the result of your trials. The Guns you claim that have failed in your tests are doing quite good in our trials.

.
.
1. Russians bribe Army officials involved in procurement.
2. AK 47 has higher caliber so it has more stopping power. Useful for shoot to kill operations.
3. It requires less cleaning. And jams less frequently.

Insas is very heavy, very long, has over heating problem and jams quickly if not cleaned frequently. Insas has a high velocity low caliber bullet, so not lethal.

Insas is more accurate and has lesser recoil.
