If it weren't for the politicians ramming it down the militaries throat the indian military would have discarded it long ago

India is continuing Tejas because India wants to be self sufficient, ego is for people who actually have no capacity for R&D yet have the gall to call a plane theirs when it is infact completely a product of another country.

A fighter jet is not always completely indigenous or perfect, it is debugged, completed and perfected over time only after induction, that is literally the legacy of the venerable F-16.

But sure stay in denial, we are going ahead either way and we don't need your permission neither.

I think to avoid being ripped off by the Russians with price hikes or the huge cost of French weapons and to prevent being in a Pakistani situation where the plane is grounded due to USA sanctions ie their f16 experience

A Indian fighter plane is needed.

The Indian govt listened to the airfirce about their need for breathing space by paying the French 8 billion for rafales now the airfirce needs to play ball and help induct and operionalise the tejas.

Tejas is a very good platform to replace retiring iaf jets in large number.
The Israeli tech and missiles will be the gamechanger for tejas.
Pakistan will not be able to get such high tech subsystems, it will have to make do with chinese stuff.

It's not just the weapons and radars the real airframe and flight controls of tejas are a generation ahead of every thing in PAF other than the block 52 which is one single squadron

thing is LCA is not for ego only its a functional and very leathel light weight multi role fighter jet that can carry 3.5 ton of weapons load and 2.5 internal feul but still have 350Km combat radius in 6Km altitude which increases as altitude increases (avrage combat altitude is 8-10 Km for such modern jets) and we have already orderred 20+20+83 LCA fighters

while choice between F/A-18 E-F and F16 Blk70/72 is still open after boings latest game changing offer which they were relucatnt all this time but now have agreed at last so il still wait on that

so the bottom line is LCA project is still very much on and we can afford it and we will make sure we get the desired results from it we wont abondon it just because pakistanies thing its funny ... got the point
