Why shouldn't they? we are forgetting one very critical factor, despite of the fate of the project the people working on the project are getting invaluable practical hands on experience, you learn from your mistakes.

Where i think they are going wrong is setting their scope of work, one should always have realistic scope of work, achieve a target than set a higher goal, they have been too ambitious and have not been able to achieve significant milestones (strictly related to time)

Just like how you have stopped "buying" from Russia?
Indeed. Left India the only impotent countries still need to buy major weapon from Russia and the West as India weapon industries is horrible :enjoy:

http://nationalinterest.org/blog/th...-china-are-still-negotiating-sale-su-35-18419

Practically 70℅ Chinese jets are made from blueprints of Russian jets & rest are stolen from Govt paid hackers..
At least we need not to beg like beggars or play around like fool like some particular countries who is too weak to make anything acceptable. :enjoy:

All the money we paid for our weapons goes to Chinese people and Chinese industries. While buying only makes other richer.

Fact is, you do the same and import from Russia. You can't import from west because they won't sell them to u, hence you steal.
So, not really what you are getting so worked up about?!

We are not claiming to be superior to west or Russia or to you, are we?
We have no such delusions but it looks like certain sections have some high opinions of themselves ;)

Even USAF import spartan C-27 transport plane from Italy? Your point? Anywhere those are small weapons. Major weapon like 5th fighter and destroyer need to be make by your own self.

As for work up. It's more of India having the the nerve right on The spot by us.

Look at the India media circle bragging about this and that and even India president claiming India will be superpower in 2012. As if we malign you bragging abt superiority?

Thejas is emerging as a primium fighter. In last 3 years, it was shown a big improvement. AOA has reached 26*. G limit will easily cross 8.5. Timing of take off to various maneuvers are absolutely top class. Now weight reduction and aerodynamic improvement is on card. This 2 changes along with AESA and EW will make it a top class fighter. More composite is coming in body. It is going be even more stealthier. MK2 shall come with very long range. This plane is going to emerge like a mini wonder.

What do u expect Indians leaders to say?
Or what did Chinese leaders say to your nation few decades back?

You are bringing here leaders speeches to their nation for nation building to forward your arguments?!! My misguided poor friend, that line of debate would show each and every nation in poor light.

Ego does not justify spending billions on an aircraft. Airforce has always been around HAL pushing for improvements and most of their requirements have been met in mk1 and the rest will be accommodated onto mk2 and it was this assurance that gave confidence to IAF to induct this machine, besides in war indigenous solutions work better than imported. IAF has realized that with SU 30MKI[/QUOTE]
Explanation is required...

Afaik mk2 programme was ditched in favour of mk1a.

@ #hydra# What explanation are you looking out for?

1) when did we use mki in war
2) in which war we used indigenous weapon in conflict, and turned it to be superior over imported ones

NO
Afaik mk2 programme was ditched in favour of mk1a.

its not like that. Since Mk1+ itself meet many of IAF requirement, IAF wants more from MK2. Naval mk2 is going to be a top clss fighter and there shall always be an option make IAF MK2 out of Naval MK2.

Tejas is a very good platform to replace retiring iaf jets in large number.
The Israeli tech and missiles will be the gamechanger for tejas.
Pakistan will not be able to get such high tech subsystems, it will have to make do with chinese stuff.

I said Indigenous solutions Work better, not worked. Its true, when all the LRU's are manufactured here, the preparedness goes high, you don't have to strategize your sorties based on the availability of spares when your supply chain is within India.
