India is continuing with it because of Ego

If it weren't for the politicians ramming it down the militaries throat the indian military would have discarded it long ago

You will not understand it. It is quite expected.

Developing a fighter jet is not all about just a jet plane rather it is the R&D ecosystem that will be built around my country. Many scientists and students are getting jobs when we invest money for this kind of research work. Every research or development may not materialize in success but if we stick to it, it will create a better environment for our engineers.

You are spot on.
We should also disband our useless military and prostrate before our neighbors. On top of that we should ensure our neighbors rule us with their infinite "wisdom"

The Israeli Merkava Mk2 wasn't a success but they stuck to it and were able to produce the Merkava Mk-4 which is supposedly a world class tank. Coming to the IAF inducting it or not, IA & IAF's top brass always rejected indigenous stuff in favor of commissions and kickbacks which was also supported by the corrupt congress govt. The development of Tejas may have taken a long time but the knowledge and expertise gained by developing something as complex as a fighter jet and how the aerospace industry evolved in due course of time is something we would cherish about.

Ego does not justify spending billions on an aircraft. Airforce has always been around HAL pushing for improvements and most of their requirements have been met in mk1 and the rest will be accommodated onto mk2 and it was this assurance that gave confidence to IAF to induct this machine, besides in war indigenous solutions work better than imported. IAF has realized that with SU 30MKI

That is none of your business, politicians always have a vicious impact on all procurement matters (mostly for self-gain), this is true for Pakistani Army, Navy, and Air Force.

So how is the JF-17 block 3 coming along & what engines are you planning to use in substitute for the RD-93. Can you show any proof that the JF-17 was designed in Pakistan? also, why is it that the Chinese are not using it themselves? what percent of the R&D work has Pakistan contributed to it?

As far as the Tejas is considered it was an original design from drawing board to model to full-scale model to production. Yes, we agree that some of the parts are not indigenous, that will take time to mature!
