I want to know what are efforts are being done by pakistan regarding the naval aircraft carrier ... Do they have such a plan ?...
I know, we in India have it. And a new one is being built in Russia.

The Chinese Varyag is available and it can easily be rebuilt for military service, but the thing is. It'll only be able to operate Russian aircrafts like the Su-33 and Mig-29K, and the Pakistani Air Force does not have access to purchase such weapons.

Pakistan needs more Frigates, a few Destroyers and alot more Subs actually rather than focus on an Aircraft carrier. A carrier fleet is expensive to operate and maintain, a few support ships are required to protect it and buying an Air-Defense Destroyer and support Frigates aint cheap, not at all. Unlike India who has large numbers Talwar Frigates and Delhi class destroyers, its easier for them to build up a Carrier Battle Fleet.

Pakistan has no use for an aircraft carrier. It has always prefered a Modern Submarine arm instead....Hence the Marlin project..

But they could use J-10 navy variant on those aircraft carriers. China does use J-10's on their AC carriers. I think i have seen it in one of the picture.

Varyag seems to be useless, last news I heard is that the Chinese are going to rebuild it into a floating casino.

It is a mistake to assume that Pak. best strategy is to imitate exactly India's strategy (but on a smaller scale).

Because of the vast differences in resources available to both militaries, the best response of both militaries will vastly assymetric.

For eg Pak. strategy is nuclear forces, supporting freedom fighters, developing airdefence capability (thru f-16's and SAM's).

India's strategy vis-a-vis Pak. is escalate above low level warfare in Kashmir to conventional, reduce role of nuclear weapons (by advocating min deterence for both sides and no first use), and an airforce capable not only of airdefence but actually bombing Pak.

India's decision to purchase aircraft carriers is because its strategy extends beyond Pak. into the future where it sees itself as a global power and therefore these pieces give it the capabiltiy to project power. Pak. acquiring Aircraft carriers will detract it and further reduce its ability to defend against India.

Pakistan Navy doesn't need an AC since it is just not cohesive with its strategy of a defensive posture against any aggression. It is more interested in acquiring more submarines and frigates. I think we should be looking at Destroyers now.

.
if pakistani is gona build an AC then i should hear some news about pakistan purchase 052B DDG, 052C DDG, 054A FFG, 093 SSN and a few navalized j-10s....... lol (basicly those kinda modern Destoryers, Frigates, and nuclear subs are the cheapest ones u can get in the whole world)

Any new news on the "State of the Variyag"? there appears to be all kinds of activity going on board. I'm hoping you know

.
well as far as i can tell varyag has been repainted..... (cant see anything from the inside... probably busy installing the nuclear reactor... lol)

The Varyag is almost done, the painting is complete and the Hull on top is being attached onto. The Varyag is still a good aircraft carrier and it's in good conditions because it was a project that Ukraine had never bothered to finish and sold to China in new conditions. Russia even offered an improved 2 seater version of the Navy Su-33 Flanker to China.

It's performance comes near India's INS Vikramaditya aircraft carrier.

China's Varyag:

2 Type 051C Air-defence missile guided destroyer (DDG) are being built. You don't built 2 Air-Defense DDGs for no reason if you aren't planning in any way to build a carrier fleet pretty soon in my opinion.
