Hindko is still spoken thereHindkowans
I know dude, my comment was in relation to the bulk of population was Hindkowan and was not simply displaced/massacred but assimilated by Pashtuns too.Hindko is still spoken there
The area of Swat valley and the nucleus of KPK was Indic for ages, Pashtuns are a relatively recent arrival and probably many native Indics (Hindkowans) were Pashtunized in the process @Joe Shearer. Even the name Peshawar is of Sanskrit origin.

Accent.
The Indo-Iranians, when they split some 4,000 years or so ago, split down the middle with regard to accent as well. On the one side, they had difficulties with the sibilant, 's', and tended to make Hindu out of Sindhu, Haraovati out of Sarasvati.
They also had theological differences, and thought of Daiva as malignant, Ahura as beneficial. Those who split from them and took an easterly path, traversed the grim mountains and debouched into the plains beyond thought the opposite; so in the Rg Veda, Deva is godly, Asura (replacing the Iranian aspirate with a sibilant) was a demi-god who was on the other side of the Devas=Suras. This concept of two or more sets of demi-gods is not unique to Indians and Iranians; the Greeks had them, the Gods and the Titans, and so did the Scandinavian/German tribes; their leader in battle, the God Odin, was Aesir (Asura) and fought the Vanir (not clearly identified in Indian myth, but I have my views).
It is not hard to pronounce; it is due to habit and custom.
You are not talking of modern Persians, but their very remote ancestors; the usage of those ancestors came down unquestioned. If you have learnt the term Arab, and somebody comes to you and says that the name should correctly be H'arab, would you change?
Probably, a British Urban legend.You don't know that song?
"There's a boy across the river with a b****m like a peach,
But alas I cannot swim."
I'm not saying where it's from, just that I read it in a book by Olaf Caroe.
But Pashtuns are a recent arrival is an undisputed fact, hence..Lot of theories about the origins of the name.
Her family is mixed dude, her mother is half Sindhi/half British. Secondly, they're Khatris, they have a 'caste' and are Indic in all sense.No they were still ethnically Pathan/Afghan looking even if they were Hindu. See the Kapoor family, Kareena Kapoor and all. Hindu but Afghan looking.
Ironic - Look sir, you are defending the identity given to you by foreigners, India or Indian is a foreign term, so is Hindustan or Hindu - What is your real Identity which you yourself claim? Is it Bharat? or Bharat Vaasi or whatever? Why don't you stick to it?For the same reason as:
Why some say "Kapra" while others say "Kapda"
Why some say "Zamaana" while others say "Jamaana"
@El Sidd @Joe Shearer
Ancient Indians and Iranians were brothers just like the contemporary Indians and Pakistanis.
@padamchen
I would. But hold on for few months. I think I told you about our family war of succession being played out. I am really occupied after I decided I wanted to come out on top. The rivalry between us siblings is reaching Ottoman succession bloodbaths. I am preparing now to go to Pakistan as we fight over land there. I could ignore it but something in me is now fired up. The COVID-19 put a temperory stop to it but as lockdown is removed we are back to action stations. I think I will be probably on plane out to PK by mid June. Inshallah as they say ...I think you should post more often. It gets bloody lonely out here, except for a handful of military professionals who are a breath of fresh air.

If I make it back you will see more active me on PDF. I am going to try and overhaul the "Pakistan History section". Until then I will just be scootin in, shootin and leavin ..
Well its your point of view, I believe they were doing it intentionally.
I believe people are of two types, either your brothers in faith or your equals in humanity so based on this yes I would change if I find the term "Arab" to be offensive compared to H'arab and some arab comes up and say like H'arab is the right word then yes I would change to H'arab.
The answer is simple. Same as for every other state. They exist. That is it. However this question is peddled by those with a agenda. Mostly religious so that they can push more religion into the masses.Pakistan ka matbal kya?

In my country India is called Hindistan,never India.The standard word in Pakistani society for india is "india", 99% people on street call "india" as "india" and not as "hindustan". But I have noticed a strange trend among the TV anchors and analysts on Pakistani news channels calling india almost always as hindustan, it just sounds strange to me that 99% people on the street use the word india but majority of the news media anchors use the word hindustan for the country of india. I find it really disgusting because I always feel they try to honor india by calling it as hindustan, they need to stop this rubbish behavior and adopt the word "india" as a default word to refer to the county of india as is the case with common people in Pakistani society.
