Why Democracy is Falling in Muslim World

democracy is new to vast majority parts of the world (only < 70 years in India/pak) and takes some time to get used to. It just so happened that, ME countries (where majority of muslim countries are) did not have democracy till now, but that will change.

Nothing to do with muslims as such.

when a dictator ship fails, it's the failure of the dictator; When a monarchy fails, it's the failure of monarch but when a democracy fails, it's the failure of people and not the failure of system. No other system gives as much importance to the common citizen as a democracy does. Fact is most countries doesn't have true democracy only puppet democracies.

But the world dont support the guy thinking he is ruthless. The world just needs to do business with their interest. The military not giving the right rights to its people is due to its upbringing in its own society. A military doing good/bad things to its people is because of its own will.

same applies to Muslim world. why cry ruthless when it comes to Muslims

Ideally, democracy places the operation of the state and its future in the hands of the people. Elected representatives are entrusted with positions of power and are held accountable by the people once their actions fall short of the expectations of the civil society. In the absence of religion, race, sectarian divides and other divisive elements the people, in any hypothetical, homogeneous society, by way of democracy, will always elect individuals who bear semblance to their own kind and whom they believe will better represent and advance the formative ideas which make them a prosperous people.

By way of example, civil society activists sensitive to the plight of orphaned children will elect candidates who have previous experience of uplifting the destitute and helping the needy and poor. Such candidates will then be expected to act upon the promises made during their election campaign and should they fall short of delivering those promises, they will be ousted from their position and replaced with another individual. The people are in control of their destiny and their will is the will of the state.

Resultantly in a state where a large majority of the voting power rests with people who are incapable of exercising a sound and proportionate judgement, whether it be because of inadequate education, corruption, coercion or lack of foresight the people will elect unqualified, inapt and directionless candidates who will make official decisions not for the betterment of the people but for realizing their own nefarious designs. Having said that, a polarized society with many different ethnicities or religious groups where almost all of the ethnic or religious groups constitute a majority i.e. a state of 10 different groups, with say a population of 200,000 and where all the groups have a representation of 20,000 each, the implementation of democracy will result in a perpetually unstable state because, as history demonstrates, the coexistence of different ethnicities, in the absence of a single unifying idea or element, will almost always result in rivalry, war and bloodshed.

In tyranny that unifying idea/element comes from the will of the dictator, and the suppression of dissident voices...in democracy, it comes from tolerance, pacifism and the exercise of restraint, all three of which appear to be very difficult for Muslims to display.

Muslim world has many differences. Arabs always had an Emir/tribal leader system and that is part of their culture which they are proud of.

QURAN sorry to say to some extent democratic parties take middle path or adjusted (fragile one) but at one point democratic values & quran contradict

2)week middle path not strong to sustain democracy , democracy collapse.

Because alot of Arabs countries had bad habits of 30-40 years dictatorship and didn't have any intelligence the meanings of democracy.

Dictatorship leaders with billions dollars and power chose to attack their own people. How can you fight against strong Pharaoh?

my dear in this case how would you comment about Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, there are no his/her highness in these countries from a very long period but on the other we have example of UK, Thailand, and Japan.... successful democratic countries....

Partly true. But usually the regimes that replace them are hardline and fundamentalists. Usually the first casualty after that has been women's rights.

If so-called hardliners come into power through rightful election process, what make other to interfere in the matter of “sovereign state”?

Mayhem is a state of violation of Universal Ethical boundaries and Human Rights, on the other hand, Justice means equilibrium, equilibrium is beauty, beauty of Society, State, Law and Universe. Equilibrium is the name symmetry, balance and stability.

Whenever and wherever equilibrium get disturbed it begets poignant chronicles, chronicles of coerce and injustice, chronicles of subjugation and patience from Tahrir Square to Rabba Square, from Hosni Mubarak to Gen. Sisi.

All tragic stories, stories of murdered and murderer, barbaric acts and cruelties, freedom and slavery.

What has actually happened in Egypt that a struggle started from Tahrir Square has reached to Rabba Square?

What Balance Gen. Sisi wants to establish in Egypt by Killing of thousand of his compatriots?

One-year government of Morsi was unacceptable but 30 years dictatorship of Hosni Mubarak & new autocracy of General Sisi is acceptable?

There are so many questions yet to be answered in bigger prospective. It&#8217;s not just Egypt.

State is the sovereignty of people residing in particular geographical boundaries, so in simpler terms collectively &#8220;sovereign people or citizens&#8221; of particular geography are called State.

Military represent the will of state to defend it, not the government, but when military conquest its own state and start massacring the &#8220;STATE&#8221; then how could that state is justified to exist and remain functional?

What would be the moral justification of that State and its Organs?

Why in Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Sudan, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria everywhere else in Muslim world
neither Democracy works as it is intended nor Autocracy??

Why Nationalism and nation State are falling in Muslim World?

Why our mess is so unique?

In my personal opinion: This is due to the intolerance towards the different views. higher importance of Jihad over importance of peace. and religion legally / illegally being used to support the both side of the cause with success.

Wrong if you have knowledge about the history of this political Jihad it started with invention of USSR in Afghanistan.....and off course with the involvement USA.....

can you show me where I demand democracy for any new country........please don't bring worthless argument of clash b/w Islamist and secular segments.....from muslim brotherhood of Egypt to Jammat Islami of Pakistan they all participate in elections.....+after what happened in Algeria & Egypt can you blame rights wings of Islamic societies for this clash.....???

Its not that USSR / USA asked or put guns on their head and the whole community started to do their dirty work. In past several countries or kindgdom were concurred by other civilisation. Once the occupation ended they believed in building their future for better and worked for it. But sadly these kind of unity/thinking does not originate from the leaders and people from Muslim countries. Everyone wants peace but they are not ready to remove the ills from their society which is preventing them.

Just to give you and example: Caste system and Sati was inbuilt in Indians culture and tradition for long. But we recognise that these are evils and have no space in the modern society and through law, education , etc have tried to remove it with great success. There may be example of existance of such evils from time to time but overall if you look its dying. We didint listened to any oppocistion citing religious text.

Something similar must be done with the islamic society where tolerance and preference for peace sould outweight its oppisite.
