Why Cronyism Could Make Bangladesh Go The Sri Lanka And Pakistan Way

You have more in common with them than we do culturally to be fair.
This whole notion of "slavery to India" is stupid and needs to stop on this forum. India is not a nation capable of enslaving anyone, it's too weak and dysfunctional. No country is under Indian servitude, not even Nepal with its open border with India.
Some Pakistani members keep parroting this "BD slave" narrative causing unnecessary rift.

I see warning figure on Bangladesh banks NPL (Non Performing Loans), this needs to be addressed since it has potency to create possible economic crisis.

Both private and state owned banks NPL is very high, and SOE banks NPL is also higher than private banks

Yes I agree it’s stupid and insulting but it’s a few people. No need to insult the rest of us though.

This quote highlights what is wrong with this article:

"The external debt-export ratio jumped from 126 per cent to 174 per cent in 2020."

Yes of course as due to Covid-19 BD exports collpased in 2020. For this fiscal it is likely to be around 150% as exports are now recovering dramatically.

@Destranator, I see that lots of PDF Pakistanis always overestimate India. What do you think the reason is?

Here are the statistics on the current BD economic position.

1. Debt to GDP ratio : 40% - compare to 90% for Pakistan and 100% in Sri Lanka.

2. External Debt to GDP ratio: 14% - down from 20% 10 years ago, although rising slightly but will stabilise at well below 20% before it starts comin down again.

3. Export growth July 2021-March 2022: Up 31% from previous period.

4. Government revenue: 12% of GDP compared to 20% in India.

If we look at the data, BD is only doing badly in revenue collection. This is somewhat being alleviated by it's high economy growth as although the share of GDP is not rising, in real terms it is keeping up with growth of the economy.

This is besides the point but a point worth raising. BD is making a mistake by giving loans to Sri Lanka, they will likely default.

Bold part: In reality, India has successfully chained Pakistan in the economic front. The tension between the two countries cause Pakistan to spend billions of dollars for its defense but the national development money was then in the short supply.

This is why Pakistan kept on borrowing money to build infrastructures, and now enslaved by the foreign donor agencies and countries. Pakistan wants China to help it out. But, this is not happening soon. China does not want to lend billions of dollars in aid or loans.

So, it is India that is calling the shots and Pakistan is just following what India likes it to do to become bankrupt. It is quite opposite in the case of Bangladesh. India cannot force us to waste our money on defense.
