Why California Failed High-Speed Rail

I watched the video. And you probably not.

The video said mentioned the 3 issue I mentioned and those are not the issue you are facing in China (It said on the video) and that is why it is popular in China, and not in California

There are only viable if the cost/mile is lower than Regional Airline, which is not, and that is because it will take too much money to recover the land to build the infrastructure, and it will have to invest largely in new technology with potential no bail out.

This is not a case in China, you can say "hey X,Y and Z work in China" and you can even compare it to it, can China do 1.3cents per mile to beat the Airline Industry? That is the main issue here, not "How China recover this" or "How China planned this"

If I start a post and saying "Why Republicanism failed in China" and start talking about how 1774 US revolt against the Brits and set up our Constitution and China can too, how does that relevant to the topic at hand??

I m discussing , i hope you join it too instead of accusation as you are doing again, I said train stations are usually in city centers and are more convenient, you can discuss about my point and you keep discussing me, you truly lose your mind.

Convenient didn't save you money bruh.

And it also does not save you time, as I said, I can fly from Sydney to Melbourne in just 2 hours with check in and traffic, It would cost me 4 hours and twice as expensive if it was replaced by a HSR. How are you going to solve that with your "Convenient"?

China also has a massive aviation domestic market, but it doesn't stop Chinese preferring HSR over air travel, besides, all Americans who tried HSR in China just can't love them enough, this shows given a chance, anyone loves HSR, but the chance was not given in US.

Right now US aviation fills this domestic need. Just did a little bit research about it.

According to wiki ~ 80% of US airliners are 737s, 320s and ....
According to airfleets.net top 20 airlines may have ~ 5400 airplanes suitable for domestic flights .

If you right now sell 4800 , 737s and 320s at price of 75$ million per airplane it will generate 360$ billion for you.

I read somewhere china built her rail network with close to 400$ billion.

At best US would be able to build 20% of China's HSR with such amount of funds.

Yes, this is a discussion, I have raised 3 points on, which I am still awaiting reply, and then instead of a reply, I got a person who come in and say "This is not a competition" instead of discussing my point, I mean, if you go after 1 of my point, I will still say yeah, let's talk about it, but as it stand, you got nothing on the table, all you have is, it work in China, and should have work all of the world.

How are you going to tackle ridership problem? How do you pull people off Regional Airline and into Rail? How do you think the US should design their HSR system, would it be centralise or decentralised? How are you going to tackle the technology? Investment in technology is not cheap.

Should you go for any one of those question, I would say you have a point, but instead, you didn't so.....

I will liist mine, and i don't expect your anwers, it's a competition,it's a dicussion, people can discuss certain points and also not to if they are not interested, it's people's personal choices here.

With easy adjustments air travel may become even more efficient.But still far from efficiency of trains.


Energy intensity is the key. When I’m the only passenger in my Civic, it requires about 2 megajoules per passenger-kilometer in city driving. Add another passenger and that figure drops to 1 MJ/pkm, comparable to a half-empty bus. Jet airliners are surprisingly efficient, commonly requiring around 2 MJ/pkm. With full flights and the latest airplane designs, they can do it at less than 1.5 MJ/pkm. Of course, public-transit trains are far superior: At high passenger loads, the best subways need less than 0.1 MJ/pkm. But even in Tokyo, which has a dense network of lines, the nearest station may be more than a kilometer away, too far for many old people.

For china it was easy to go in that direction, they rode bycycles 30 year go without much infrastructure, for usa it is much more complicated, basically they would need to overhaul their cities completely.

I said youtube section has more people , I didn't ask you to leave this discussion. and I didn't say your points are all wrong why you have to make me to refute them? it's not a competition here, it's a dicussion.
